ANASTASIA MYSKINA - The Queen of Russian Tennis

(1/6) > >>

As the first Russian Grand slam champion, who seemed to be a catalyst for all the Russian success in tennis, it only seems fair that a thread should be set up in her honour. Feel free to share articles, photos, videos or anything else about the 2004 French Open Champion.

Just a few photos from her '04 RG title win to start things off :))

Good luck here mccriddsta considering we may just be talking about her as a mother now  :)~ the real Queen of Russian tennis is the girl that is their only ever number 1 and 3 time Grand Slam Champion  :))

My stats suggest that she is the best Russian player. Of all the Russian players she's played her head-to-head is as follows:

3-2 over Sharapova
3-2 over Petrova
9-6 over Dementieva
3-1 over Zvonareva
5-3 over Likhovtseva
1-0 over Kournikova
4-2 over Kuznetsova
1-1 with Chakvetadze

She has a winning record over the vast majority of Russians and ties once with no losing records. Sharapova is pwned with this sort of stat. :)~

She beat Maria as a 16 year old to start with so I'm not overly concerned with the head to head record. Its safe to say she got out of the sport before that head to head would have become very 1 sided  :)~ 3 Grand Slams at 21 compared to Myskina being 25 or so when she quit the Tour with just 1 Slam says it all  :)
