Well, it's not until September, but I wanted to get it on the calendar! We will be going to Palm Beach, Florida the week after our anniversary...so I'll be out September 6-September 13th from the forum!

Can you give us one tip that has contributed to the longevity of your marriage?

I'll give you 6!

1. We've put God first;

2.We don't argue. We never have and never will...Plus it helps that we are both sports fanatics!) So that's one less argument that could even come up! We have about 4 televisions in the house and all 4 could be on showing some type of sports and we love it!

3 We each have separate checking accounts (his retirement check goes into his; my working check goes into mine. We do have 1 account together for vacation spending;

4. He still can hang out with 'the boys' for golf or whatever; and I can still hang out with 'the girls' when we play spades and other gatherings and neither of us really mind.

5. Our kids are grown so we don't "take care" of grown kids!!!! Never have...never will...

6. We still take time out for each other by traveling together all the time. Just the 2 of us. That's why we both contribute to our "vacation" account each month so we have traveling money to just - go! And as soon as I retire next year, we'll be on the go more than ever!

In most cases but I'm pretty sure I'll never believe completely in God, but even more so I'll never be able to stop my argumentative side

Cash money reasons Dallas! #1 is key, although I struggle with that more than I would like to. Comes easier for wifey that I.

I will admit that I think one checking account is better for us. I am the only one that works right now, but before when she worked we still had one account. For us it works well.

Separate accounts seems odd to me but it works well for some people.

To share a religion is a powerful bond and it's cool that you both like sports!

I'm going to take your advice on #6 and start planning more free time with my wife.
Seems like we get so busy 'just livin' that we often forget to take enough 'us' time.

Well, my wife and I had seperate accounts, she made her money, and spent mine (but not to excess). Now we live on different coasts and await the court's final sign off on our living seperate lives.
