Weekend mixed doubles here was a mixed bag. It's been quite warm. The first breath of summer  :PHEW:) , you might say.
Yesterday's game was not good. My partner turned up somewhat disoriented half an hour late. We'd had a kind of prolonged warm up waiting. She did not want to warm up and played pretty badly right from the start. It was contagious and, in trying to work out what she was doing, I played even worse. We lost badly each of three sets.  :mad1:
Today's was much better. Everyone on time, a good warm up and three closely competitive sets. 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. But it left me feeling unusually tired, possibly because of the unaccustomed heat. Age is creeping on, I'm afraid.  :(

Everyone has his s**tty days  make sure to move on! Youll be smacking them on the court again in no-time!
Dont fight about tennis, support tennis.

I just didn't think I would be seeing a clay court tournament where Roddick is still in it and Nadal is out.   -   Dallas -  31 May, RG 2009

Now that tennis has moved outdoors, we are back to dodging rain showers this week. :rain:
Yesterday early, I had my weekly hit with the instructor early and then at 8pm it was off to the local lighted county courts with the Thursday night group. It stayed dry and we had a good game.  Only one set in two hours, score: 8-10  :scared: so it was pretty even. My tennis was fine except for approach shots, which were terrible. I'll blame it on the shadows. Not much planned for this coming weekend tenniswise but it looks like it is going to be showery anyway.
Non-tennis highlight is the annual meeting of the downtown club which is mainly interesting for seeing how the Chair deals with the argumentative membership  :cheer: :big boss: :shut-up: :lol-cry: :har-har: :::O using the official rules of order  :hammer: .

Are you still playing just about everyday?  You're my inspiration if I do indeed decide to play tennis! :))

Not these days, Dallas .  :(  :rain: :rain: :depressed: :rain: :rain:  :(
You've had a lot of it down your way too, haven't you?

Another nice thing about being retired is that I was invited to play indoors yesterday at rather short notice and could oblige. That was good after all this wet weather.

The sun came out today at last  :)) and I had a good hit with the instructor this morning. Trouble was that, after all the annual meeting festivities this week  :drinks: :drunk:  :yay: , I was in distictly poor form and was not coordinating at all well. Still, it was a good workout and it got the heart rate up.

Looks pretty stormy over Columbus right now on the weather map.    :Sad-Bye::depressed:

Hopefully the rain will be out of our way so we can play outside Saturday and Sunday!

I had a good game of mixed dubs outside today. Weather fine, although court was only just dry. People turned up on time (displeasure :mad1: expressed a couple of weeks ago must have been noted) and played well. Was nice.  :)

Good for you.  No wind for you?  I guess it will hit you tonight or not at all.

Not yet, still calm and cloudy outside.
Mothers' Day  :daisies:  has put a spanner into plans for tennis tomorrow. But I do expect to be playing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that is OK.
Monday is the first day of Mens Senior League at the local Y.  With misplaced enthusiasm  :trampoline: , I made the mistake of signing up very early and as a result the whole world can now see me listed at the top of their tennis ladder.  :lmao!:
A precipitious fall is coming.  :sad angel:

Beautiful day here for hitting a tennis ball and I had a hit with the instructor early this morning. We did the usual mixture of ground shots (with emphasis of going deep with top spin as distinct from my funny natural slice  :rofl_2: ), serves and volleys.  Possibly because I had a sober evening last night, turned in early plus the bright sunshine, I was hitting extraordinarily well  :king: .  It is good for body and soul that the annual meeting week is over  :applause: :applause: :no-no-no: :thumb-down: :head-bash:  :drunk: .

Monday (see above) went as expected. The tennis ladder was reordered   ::))11 . But I did not disgrace myself  :) .

Sweet E!  You must have played really early like before 8am?  That is the only problem with what sounds like a perfect day of tennis.

8am, Best time of the day!  :))

No tennis last weekend  :( . Sunday p.m. had to stay in the cave to experience Wagner's Siegfried  :nerdy: at the Washington Opera.  The dragon :scared: was good  (a large, smoking, construction vehicle with big iron claws). But the weekend highlight, as said elsewhere, was the tennis on TV from Madrid which was really splendid.   :))

Played doubles Monday and Tuesday not very successfully but had a very encouraging 8am session yesterday with the instructor. I really think my game is improving a lot on all fronts so I should be in good shape if there is a tennis4you match in August as long as Scott or OSU is there to do the running.  Have been commandeered for a match tomorrow and am hoping for more on Saturday and Sunday which have yet to come together.

I did get to have an early morning hit with the instructor today.  It is a matter of taking advantage of  dry spells in betwen storms here these days. We had to drive around to find a dry outdoor court. It was one of those mornings where the playability of the court depended on surface, location, and surroundings (e.g. trees); most likely a combination of the three.  We played on a county court that was new to me so that was knowledge gained in addition to the good workout. My backhand was awful though  :(. Things just didn't come together.
It's expected to rain heavily again this afternoon.  :depressed:

For the first time this season, it was very humid and this was somewhat energy draining. Still, it was good just to hit a tennis ball.  :))
