Weekend mixed doubles here was a mixed bag. It's been quite warm. The first breath of summer , you might say.Yesterday's game was not good. My partner turned up somewhat disoriented half an hour late. We'd had a kind of prolonged warm up waiting. She did not want to warm up and played pretty badly right from the start. It was contagious and, in trying to work out what she was doing, I played even worse. We lost badly each of three sets. Today's was much better. Everyone on time, a good warm up and three closely competitive sets. 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. But it left me feeling unusually tired, possibly because of the unaccustomed heat. Age is creeping on, I'm afraid.
Are you still playing just about everyday? You're my inspiration if I do indeed decide to play tennis!
I had a good game of mixed dubs outside today. Weather fine, although court was only just dry. People turned up on time (displeasure expressed a couple of weeks ago must have been noted) and played well. Was nice.

Not yet, still calm and cloudy outside.Mothers' Day has put a spanner into plans for tennis tomorrow. But I do expect to be playing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that is OK.Monday is the first day of Mens Senior League at the local Y. With misplaced enthusiasm , I made the mistake of signing up very early and as a result the whole world can now see me listed at the top of their tennis ladder. A precipitious fall is coming.
The sun came out today at last and I had a good hit with the instructor this morning. Trouble was that, after all the annual meeting festivities this week , I was in distictly poor form and was not coordinating at all well. Still, it was a good workout and it got the heart rate up.
Sweet E! You must have played really early like before 8am? That is the only problem with what sounds like a perfect day of tennis.
No tennis last weekend . Sunday p.m. had to stay in the cave to experience Wagner's Siegfried at the Washington Opera. The dragon was good (a large, smoking, construction vehicle with big iron claws). But the weekend highlight, as said elsewhere, was the tennis on TV from Madrid which was really splendid. Played doubles Monday and Tuesday not very successfully but had a very encouraging 8am session yesterday with the instructor. I really think my game is improving a lot on all fronts so I should be in good shape if there is a tennis4you match in August as long as Scott or OSU is there to do the running. Have been commandeered for a match tomorrow and am hoping for more on Saturday and Sunday which have yet to come together.
