We had some vicious storms roll through here yesterday that maybe have made their way over to you. Glad you got out this AM and keep the faith with the BH!

I had a good hit with the instructor this morning. Still working on the backhand that can stand improvement but forehands, volleys, and even overheads went well.

Unfortunately  :mad1: , must go off to a meeting for a whole week so there will be NO MORE TENNIS until ONE WEEK FROM SATURDAY.
I expect to be suffering withdrawal symptoms  :fever 2:  :blue: starting tomorrow.

Can't you take your gear with you and try to find someone?

::))11  No, I've tried that before, and I have to travel heavy anyway.
All my meeting friends seem to just stick by the bar.   :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks:

Well, at least you have a nice alternative.

I was back on the court today after a ten-day absence. Not really up to speed and the serve toss was very erratic, presumably because of the bureaucratic laziness  :::O  through the intervening week but it felt really good to be hitting a tennis ball again  :) . Hoping to play again tomorrow if rain does not intervene. How is the weather in Ohio?

It's warm and humid here. Interestingly, in Pasadena CA, it was foggy and cool (temperatures maxing in the 60s almost every day)  :( .
Sunny California!  :\

Glad to hear you got back on a court.  The weather here is almost fall-like....PERFECT....70s and low humidity   :// ://

The good Ohio weather  :)) made it over here today and we had another nice game outside, 6-3, 7-5.  I was playing a lot better although the serve toss was still wonky. However, apart from possible irritation to others when I just let the ball drop, I won all but one of my serves. After a dismal last week away, it is indeed great to be back to tennis.  :trampoline:

I had a good hit with the instructor this morning although I did have the feeling of hitting lots of balls badly  :( . But, as he pointed out, at least they nearly all went in ..-) . He too wondered about the weird and wild serve toss (see above). Apparently, sometime during my week off from tennis, I had developed a dismissive flick in my left hand (doubtless due to overexposure  :argue: at aggressive board meetings while away). Remedial measures are being applied, including fewer meetings  :mad1: . My volleys and overheads were good  :hammer: , perhaps having been stimulated by the activity at those same meetings.

You win some and you lose some.  :dunno:

I had good games Sunday and Monday and an energetic hit with the instructor this morning. The cranky weather seems to have gone away and we are having a succession of beautiful days when there is no question as to weather  whether the court is playable.

Only trouble is that people are starting to migrate away for the summer.  :(

I'm starting to look forward as a spectator  to tennis tournaments.
The local Legg Mason put out an announcement this morning. They look like having a good roster.

Mixed doubles this weekend with mixed results.
Yesterday 1-6, 3-6, 1-6.
Today 6-3, 6-4.

Today I got all my service games, yesterday (as seen in the score) hardly any. My ground strokes were pretty good both days.

At a change of ends today, one of the ladies said she had a friend who has a daughter who dated Roddick some years ago. Daughter was treated rather shabbily and my tennis friend said she disliked watching Roddick because of this. I said, I rarely watched because I didn't get much out of his big blustering serve game. She said, you men wouldn't understand and went on to wonder why those hot models put up with these guys.  :confused1:

We then went back to tennis.  :dunno:

Yes, that's a regular at 8am Wednesdays. We have a backup arrangement on Friday 8am should weather dictate.  I feel it is helping my game but more than anything else it is a good workout. I hit more balls in that hour than during the rest of the week!

The instructor had something else on at 8am today so we did it at 2pm. As I left, Hewitt/Roddick was 1 set each,5 all and, as an Australian, I was sad to find out when I got back that Lleyton didn't quite pull it off.  Still, out there in the heat, I managed to hit a lot of balls and am pleased to report progress on all fronts. He is trying to get me to speed up my serve and brought a speedometer along today. I have a way to go!  :(
