Tennis balls
« on: July 28, 2008, 12:08:41 PM »
My buds and I have used some different balls over the years and I think I've finally settled on a favorite.

I used to prefer Dunlop Extra Duty because they didn't seem to fuzz up as quickly and seemed to retain their bounce longer.  They also felt very hard.
Lately we've been using Penn's and while they are a bit softer and fur up a bit, I'm starting to like the softer feel.

What's your favorite and why?

You could have added "Head" in the poll. I think it's quite common... :)

Went with Penn, but I really don't notice too much of a difference in balls.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I prefer Penn, I think they age the best.

My prefrence used to be Penn, but now it's Dunlap.
BTW, Tretorn is a pretty big name in tennis balls isn't it?

I use Penn, but I'm generally happy as long as the balls are new.

Practice balls decompressed), on the other hand, are like rocks!   I use them with my son sometimes and they are tough to get used to...
Lots of people make passes at me, I'm a tennis player!

I've always played Penn but I'm beginnig to think that my ball has more action (kick) with Wilson, so I'm starting to play Wilson. Doesn't matter whether it's true or not; all that matters is what's rolling around between the ears. I voted for Wilson.

I don't see too many of those out here in the Boonies, though we used to play with them occasionally back in the 80's. :)

Dunlops. They feel a lot more solid for longer than anything else I have played with. I mean maybe if I had to pick one for one important match I'd go with Wilson but for playing  a lot and needing balls to last and stay true for a longer time than average, I'd go with Dunlops.

I can't tell the difference, a tennis ball is a tennis ball to me.

Head owns Penn.  So I'd assume a Head ball is a Penn ball, just different ink.  Can anyone confirm this?
