This is ridiculous: 3/3 for Chelski, with Lampard for midfielder, ahead of Fabregas, Gerrard and Scholes :head-smack: Sorry sid, but only JT was worthy.
didnt know Chelsea won last year CL!!!  :rofl_2:
Terry, worthy for missing the penalty-championship point??

Fair point: OK, none of them were worthy!

To get these awards, there voted from all teams round Eueope.

reactions in Spanish media:
horrible draw for both Madrid teams...
Real, Juve!!, Zenit (uefa cup holders)
Atletico, Liverpool (with Torres!!), PSV and Marseille...all rivals CL champions
Madrid clubs are concerned
Villarreal, to face Man Utd, but should beat Celtic and Aalborg...so is ok!
Barcelona, how lucky can you be!! Sporting, Shaktar and Basel.  celebrating!

Decent draw im looking for here for United
why? it's better and most interesting to play the best teams.

We have just had quite a lot of matches against Roma the last few years so it will probably happen again  :))
I see, you want another 7-1 demolition!!  :rofl_2:

Certainly wouldnt say no to another one of those  :rofl_2:
Although its very dangerous for the supporters going to Rome so id quite like to face a different team now.
what do you think about Villarreal, Celtic and Aalborg?? difficult??

My first impressions of the draw were infact 'Boy its lucky I converted my girlfriend into a United supporter' as previously she was a Celtic fan and knowing me that could have got difficult if things went wrong  :rofl_2: So now I'm glad her loyalties will be tested straight away. Celtic Park is always a difficult place to go but I'm sure we'll be okay with them. Villarreal is a good one as its a team we haven't played much down the years and they were 2nd last year in La Liga so it'll be a test for us but I'm confident we'll see them off. Then finally Aalborg- well this one shouldn't be too difficult. I imagine at home they'll put up a decent fight but we should turn them over and then at Old Trafford they are absolutely no hopers. So all in all I'm pleased with the draw we've got  :)

Sid, Man Utd fans will not be happy with my comment (those 3 awards are a little bit controversial.)
you know, IMHO Chelsea was the better team in Moscow and sadly it happens too many times in penalties the best team dont win.
for me, the player of the final was Ballack.
my awards: Van Der Sar-Ferdinand-Gerrard, Ballack or Scholes-sadly Ronaldo (missing 2 penalties in last 3 matches)

that's very funny about your girlfriend being a former Celtic fan!!!  :rofl_2: and also cool! Celtic is a great club!!!
Parkhead is a difficult trip!! and they will be motivated against the best club in England.
(Celtic is my 2nd fav. British team behind Arsenal)
Villarreal, well with la liga to start this weekend it's soon to say if they are in good form or not.
In 2005-2006, two scoreless draws with Manchester United and then Villarreal topped the group and progressed with Benfica.
Man Utd were out in the group stage. you want revenge, dont you??  :)
Aalborg is very easy!!! defeated very weak Kaunas from Lithuania yesterday.

Yeah Celtic will just be her 2nd cluub now- I knew converting her would come in to be crucial  :rofl_2:
Celtic will be hugely motivated to to beat us, and they've got an excellent record at home so will be even more desperate to beat us there- but its a big tie for sure between England's and Europe's best vs the Scottish best.
Villarreal is definitely a revenge mission  :)>>>> nothing less than 4 points will do against them to complete the revenge and who knows maybe even knock them out in the process. As you say we don't have any idea how they're playing yet but hopefully within the next month we will see how they're. Surprise to see a team like Aalborg in and they should be very easy pickings for us.
I say we'll top the group with a game to spare and secure our qualification to the 2nd round with 2 games remaining  :)

We battered Chelsea first half though in Moscow and had we taken our chances would have been 4 up by halftime. In the 2nd half Chelsea were much the better team with our players at some stages looking as if they knew the game should have been over first half. Penalties was probably the only way the 2 teams could be separated, they were that evenly matched.

the thing I hate the most in football is penalties to decide the club that is going to win the match. it's almost like a lottery.
In the past, until mid 70's...when CL finals finished in a tie (1974 final), they played the match again. I would love to see this again.

34' MU 2 big chances, Tevez and Carrick
41' MU big chance, Tevez
43' Chelsea chance, Ballack
44' CHELSEA GOAL LAMPARD -just before HT!
54' Chelsea chance Essien
57' Chelsea chance Ballack
77' Chelsea, big chance -hitting the post Drogba 81' shots on goal MU 7 -CH 17

and then penalties.
CT, you know the two reasons why I wanted Manchester United to win this title!  ;-()

I knew the match was very important for you!!!  :)
I thought that MU was going to win in penalties after Chelsea hit the post twice. when you have chances like that and you dont score....
then Ronaldo missed and I thought well Ronaldo is going to be the loser for Manchester United (big story) but...when I saw Terry ready for match point I was not sure he was going to score, (centre back scoring a penalty is risky), when Terry missed I was convinced MU was going to win.
then came Anelka, and well he was considered the worst striker to play for Real Madrid in decades...so it was no surprise he missed and...
MANCHESTER UNITED 2008 CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!!!  :))

I had most of my friends and work friends thinking I was going to faint away or have a heart attack too. During the penalties a couple of them rang me and i was in such a state and mood at the time I just picked my phone up and threw it straight towards the wall  :rofl_2: That match was all I was thinking about for a few days before and even at night I was having thoughts and dreams about it. It was an unreal experience and even now when you talk about all those incidents during the amtch and when I watch highlights of it I still get really nervous. When Ronaldo missed the penalty I said it was the worst night of my life, I had a few tears of sadness and the na few minutes later it was one of the best nights of my life, I had tears and happiness and we were the Champions of Europe :shakey: :yahoo:

Do you never think you take the GAME a little too seriously?

We battered Chelsea first half though in Moscow and had we taken our chances would have been 4 up by halftime. In the 2nd half Chelsea were much the better team with our players at some stages looking as if they knew the game should have been over first half. Penalties was probably the only way the 2 teams could be separated, they were that evenly matched.
I agree on that!!!
5' MU little chance, Hargreaves
15' MU chance, Hargreaves
26' MU GOAL Ronaldo
27' Chelsea, little chance, Lampard (31' ball possession MU 65%-CH 35%)
33' Chelsea, chance Ballack
34' MU 2 big chances, Tevez and Carrick
41' MU big chance, Tevez
43' Chelsea chance, Ballack
44' CHELSEA GOAL LAMPARD
54' Chelsea chance Essien
57' Chelsea chance Ballack
77' Chelsea, big chance -hitting the post Drogba 81' shots on goal MU 7 -CH 17
94' Chelsea again hitting the post - Lampard
100' MU big chance Giggs
111' Chelsea chance Drogba
115' Drogba sent off, 5 minutes before the end of match. Tevez very clever -typical argentinian.
and then penalties.
CT, you know the two reasons why I wanted Manchester United to win this title!

Brilliant breakdown and a reminder of the incredible night :yahoo: :shakey:

Many would say thats the case, but I've been following Football and United since I was 4 years of age so I've never known anything different and as a result thats how many passion has developed to what it is now. I'm only like this with 1 or two other things though. Maria is obviously one, with the possibility of only 1 more person being added to that list if she was to continue for a fair time yet.

The other one being Nastia, I take it?
