Roma 3-1 Chelsea
Liverpool 1-1 Atletico Madrid

Nice dive from Gerrard in the last minute there, great work on his part. Also not hypocritical of him at all to condemn others for diving last year  :good:

Gerrard diving? Never

Yes, we were lucky to get the penalty and yes, it was controversial, but commentators after the match, actually admitted it was a penalty. A clever challenge as he actually reached the ball first making it seem like it was a penalty, which it was. But to be fair, Liverpool completely dominated the secnd half and should've got a penalty anyway from an obvious handball, and had plenty of chances, so we definitely deserved the point, even if we did do it in that way.

It wasn't a penalty and anybody that tries to argue that it was obviously thinks we're playing netball.

Wow how we only drew last night at Celtic I'll never know! We absolutely battered them and had over 65% of the ball for the match, but just had constant block, or bad miss- all one aafter another. Its a game we ought to have won 5-1 or 6-1 something like that. Definitely a match we let ourselves down in.

I'm afraid Chris, it was a penalty. Hence the goal we got from it. And we deserved a penalty earlier in the match so it was justice in the end. We were the better side.

Even you'd admit that was an unfair penalty- Gerrard knew what he was doing and took the dive, when he actually jumped into the man and should have been a free kick the other way. Atletico should have had a penalty then if your other one was as Carragher certainly got a hand on it in the box.

Atletico fine halved

Atletico Madrid will have to play Wednesday's Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven behind closed doors after a court of arbitration rejected an appeal against UEFA's punishment for crowd trouble.

European football's governing body sanctioned Atletico after crowd problems marred their Champions League home match with Marseille on October 1. There were also allegations of racist chanting by Atletico fans which the club denied.

UEFA said failures in the club's organisation led to confrontations between visiting fans and police and originally ordered to them play their following two European fixtures at least 300km outside Madrid, with a home stadium ban for a third game if there was further trouble.
Atletico appealed and the sanction was cut to one match played behind closed doors although a fine of 150,000 euros (126,536) was upheld.

The club protested its innocence and took its case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which ruled after a hearing in Lausanne on Wednesday.

"Having examined the arguments and evidence submitted by the parties, the CAS Panel, in line with UEFA, concluded that Atletico Madrid committed several serious security breaches during the match against Olympique Marseille which allowed the incidents to occur," the court said.

CAS said, however, that a suspended sanction of a second match behind closed doors was overturned, and the fine was reduced by half "in light of the fact that the racist acts alleged by UEFA could not be established with certainty".

It said it would publish more details about the reasons for its decision at an unspecified later date.

Atletico noted that the original punishment had been "considerably reduced".

It said CAS had backed its assertion "100 per cent" that there had not been any racist chanting.

A point is enough to qualify for he next stage tonight but I want top spot in this group so a win would do perfectly tonight out in Spain at Villarreal.

Friggen hell we've played Villarreal 4 times now in our history(all in the last 4 years) and we've had 4 0-0 games!!! That was one of the most boring United matches I've seen for a long time, we were the better team with a few more chances but nothing really good happened. It was a poor game with Villarreal happy for a point to qualify for the next round, and the point also meant United qualified for the last 16 of the competition and thankfully stayed top of the group  :)

Cluj got it back to 1-1 but Drogba scored for 2-1 full time. But even though Chelsea are through, they go through as runners u of the group and really didn't go through in impressive or easy fashion to say the least.

A game that had absolutely nothing riding on it and was of no importance at all ended 2-2 between United and Aalborg. Fantastic result for Aalborg to get a point at Old Trafford but United were already through and finished top of the group. Now a big game against Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday before we go to Japan looking to become World Champions  :)
