Topic: Need something lighter more forgiving than than my vintage wilson pro staff

My arm is old and my shoulder is a little bit damaged.  I need something lighter with similar control and feel but a little help with power.

My racket since the mid 80's has been my wilson pro staff midsize 11.6 unstrung
12.3 strung.  Balanced 1.0 - 1.5 Headlight  string at 65-70 lbs.

Any suggestions?

Just about anything is going to be lighter, and more forgiving that that monster.

Yeah I know but I want something with a similar "solid" feel with good control.  Just somewhat lighter and little bigger sweet spot and easier on the arm.    Once in awhile someone will let me try their racket but many feel too light or too springy and it feels like the ball goes back easier but with "boing" and it's not fully under my control.

You may want to look at the same racquets I pointed out to the raw edge. Either Wilson's K-Factor 95 or K-Blade 93. Or the older nCode versions will probably be worthwhile. Also, Head's Liquid Metal. Just look for players racquets. They will be on the heavy side, head light, and mid sized.

the dunlop aerogel 100 might be right down ur alley, and a lot cheaper than most other racquets of the type.

Wilson's K-Factor 95 would be a bit lighter and very solid.

I think the most comparable racquets are the the K Factor 90 and the N Code 6.1.

I can relate to that BOINGY feeling you're talking about! 
The good news is, with a bit of experimentation with customizing your racquet, you should be able to create a stick that satisfies your needs as you age.

the Kfactor tour 90 is still quite heavy IMO, and the n6-1 95 doesnt have the same feel as the ps original - more powerful and stiffer.

I think the K-Factor Tour 90 is pretty much a Pro Staff with a paint job. It's a little better in terms of feel and sweet spot. It's a more comfortable stick, but it's about the same weight, and balance as a Pro Staff

Thanks for the suggestions and information.   I'll try to find a dunlop areogel 100 to demo this week.  It's just a bit lighter and sounds like what I'm looking for.   I'll report back with my findings.

Do you happen to know if the K-Factor is single braid construction like the Original?
I can't seem to find that info.

The 5 inches give it a larger sweetspot, and a little more power. When I was teaching, it was with a Pro Staff, but that was almost 20 years ago. As I recall it felt like I was hitting with a board. Very little reponse, or power. I didn't play with the pro staff unless it was where I taught (which was Wilson sponsored).
I don't know about the single braided construction though.

Well, it does have more hitting area, and a bigger sweet spot than a two by four.
