It looks like the ball might be sailing to the right of the cup. I think the angle makes it look a lot closer than it really is.

Oh, and at the end, the ladies are quite unimpressed by the whole deal because nothing fantastic actually happened.

At 1:31 you can see the ball flying stage left, nowhere near the poor fellow or the bottle.  Walk it through frame by frame and see for yourself.
