What a close week that was!
Yeah,I guess that draw helped me a lot It should be 3pts fo a draw instead of 1pt
That's something I considered long and hard. Surprised no one has mentioned it before now. Whether it's "right" or "wrong" it accomplishes what I was hoping for: it add a dimension that wouldn't otherwise be there if W = D =3. In that case, there would be no disincentive to pick a draw. As it is now, picking a draw more daring but, as designed, necessary to produce the outcome of week 21. Your win is exactly what I had envisioned by the W = 3, D = 1 format.
What's funny, through 21 weeks, the "right" person has won almost everytime. So, in the end, as things have played out, the point is mute.
At least with a W;D=3 we would have more drama as we would hit more draws then before...The way I see, predicting only winner is more beneficial, and many of us have very small amounts of draws.. And definitely is more daring...But I guess you know the best
It would have affected the outcome of 2 times of the first 21 weeks.
Here are other factors to consider:
1. it's more daring to pick draws if they are worth 1 point; if a draw is worth 3 pts, picking draws would be more common. Recall, murrayfan never picked draws; sometimes Chris and Somil don't pick draws--it's a strategy
that isn't there if W = D = 3.
2. But the biggest argument I have against the W = D = 3 format is
that there will be more ties among us. For example:W = D = 3 W = 3; D = 1
sid 7W, 0D = 21 pts* Somil 6W, 0D = 18 pts
Lug 5W, 1D = 18 pts sid 5W, 2D = 17 pts*
Somil 4W, 2D = 18 pts Lug 5W, 1D = 16 pts
Bab 3W, 3D = 18 pts Chris 4W, 2D = 14 pts
*under the current format, only once
did the person who picked the most correct finished 2nd (received 1 point). On another occasion, the person who picked the most tied for first (recieved the full 3 points with someone else). But that's also a mute point because people use different strategies when picking W = 3; D = 1 versus W = D = 3. You can't say, "he would have won if W = D = 3" because other people would have made different picks; he may have as well.
The best way to separate the top from the bottom is to use the current W = 3; D = 1 format. Otherwise, we would see weekly distributions like this:
Lug 3 pts
Bab 3 pts
Chris 3 pts
sid 3 pts
Somil 0 pts
Somil 3 pts
Lug 1 pt
Chris 1 pt
sid 1 pt
Bab 1 pt
