A short interview made by a local newspaper. I trasnlated it so I hope you can understand it
."2010 may be my final year"
Gaston Gaudio told Infobae.com as he prepares for the 2010: "I will play the season with big intensity and then see what I do"
"At the end, the only thing left is tennis,"
said Gaston Gaudio in private pre-interview. He laughs and looks happy despite the fact that the last weeks have not been auspicious for him."Now that I begin to think more in tennis, I feel better. Let's hope 2010 will be a good year,"
a sort of prologue. How are you preparing to meet next season?
-Good, what do I know?, as usual. Making the preseason. I didnīt have vacation, I stayed in Buenos Aires, and two weeks ago I started with the work. It's tough at this age (31 years), because this is something that I always did, but I'm not complaining because I still want to play and see if I can achieve the ultimate objectives. What are they?
-I would like to play the major tournaments, play well, win some good matches and put myself inside the 50 (today he is 167 in the ranking). Iīm not asking for too much, am I? (laughs). But I'm not that far, if I win some matches I get between 100 and then, to work it out in major tournaments. In the middle of the interview he asks for a minute to send a text message, which turn into several smaller messages as he received the answer almost instantly. Are you all day using a cell phone?
-Mmmm, maybe. Recently, to not tempt me, I left it at home. I even give it to a friend so I didnīt become so dependent. But after 20 minutes I asked him if it had entered a little message (laughs). Tennis came back to rule the scene inmediately. We consult him for the exhibition he played in San Juan and the Copa Argentina. And the "Cat" answers.
-I think I played well against Canas (who beat in his presentation at the Cuyo province). But not against David, but he was very good. Here I played pretty tight and I lost Moya in the third. I had opportunities, but didnīt take them. I feel good, hopefully I can continue improving to start the season, "he says. Is it special to play in Buenos Aires?
-I love it because my family can come to see me, people who love me and because I feel the support of the public. It's the place I like the to play the most. What was the balance you did last year?
-It wasnīt so bad the year. I would like to have entered to the top 100, but I had four tores in the season, something that had never happened to me, so Iīve been a lot of time without being able to play. Besides I was coming from a 2008 where I didnīt do anything."This may be your last season?
-It can always be the last with me. Last year I was not playing and many times I thought I wansīt coming back. Then I got excited and little by little I started to get into again. Next year I will play everything. Then I'll see ...
