Two things working against me that year. I bought the camera the day before I left and I took sooo many pics of the city as it was my first time to Paris. Yeah, now I have 2 gig cards (of course, I didn't go last year and this year it rained so much I only saw 7 matches in 5 days).

That's true. I didn't follow much of the women's game since then. I still don't know the whole story behind all those allegations and don't care to. And ironically, I only 'heard' of Justine big time after she defaulted at the AO final and that whole year I was a Mauresmo fan more than Justine ... but since then its all Justine  ://
I can't believe she left the game so soon at her peak.  :(

Yeah, I had her back in Paris (sure would like to read my comments again :laugh-bounce:  And when she defaulted at AO, holy crap criers!, the tennis world--IMO, sparked by the media and Pam Shriver in particular--lost it's friggin' mind. I got so sick of Pam, I e-mailed Bud Collins (I did, and he responded), pointing out to him--as I had been doing here--that Edberg wasn't deamonized when he defaulted in the 1990 AO final against Lendl. Hell, after he retired, they named a friggin' trophy after the guy: The Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award  :swoon:

F' Pam Shriver! You can go to hell!

Then he must have lied because I don't think Bud Colins knows me.

pawan, this is what I said shortly after I joined this board (pretty much what I figured I had said).

Quote from: BitterBlueBong
...I really don't care who brings it up, my point is that it happens often.
And my point is that a true champion, say, like Pete Sampras, could pull his s**t together and overcome his emotions despite the adverse circumstances (see Sampras v. Courier, '95 AO QF to refresh your memory). Hence, I refer to all y'all as Serena apologists.

Quote from: BitterBlueBong
Good for Pete. And who exactly is a Serena apologist?
Well, it should be clear...unless you've been smoking whatever it is in your bong the past hour or so.

But, I'll spell it out for you, nonetheless. A Serena apologist is one who professes that "The Hand" cost Serena the match.

 :rofl_2: Serena aplogist..

Well I don't even know the hand incident. Only heard of it. Actually I didn't even know that Justine won that match or lost that match or that incident was apparently crucial to the outcome. Go figure  ..-)
Screw them all anyway, Justine was THE player. she even IS still THE player even if she's not playing

Well, let's see.... I don't mind  Haas, Gonzo and Tsonga... so I'm 3 out of 9 (not as good odds as the WTA...but at least you have some that I like). :thumbs-up:
