Even before that, he played an EXO in an argentinian province (Sante Fé) with Puerta, Zabaleta, and Schwank.

These are so awesome, ton! The video is sweet! Puerta can still thump it! So surprised he never made it back, but I suspect he had emotional or psychological issues after that ordeal following the 2005 RG final. That was a nightmare for him to deal with every single day.

A f-ing horse! WTF! :rofl_2: :rofl_2:

Yeah, who is this???

Some news about gaudio. He recently gave an interview to a radio program where he said that he will play 13 more tournaments for the rest of the year and if he gets to the 120 spot or better (of course) he will continue.

"We are in the final stage. I have 13 tournaments until the end of the year, if I end up nside the 120 sI continue. Its a quite difficult goal I set, I have to win three tournaments of the thirteen. I would like to keep playing a year more, but well, playing good tournaments"

Also he says he would like to be the president of his soccer team "Independiente of Avellaneda", or, doing what has become his favourite hobby, photography. I liked his attitude really, very relaxed.

Personally, I would like to see him playing a masters or the USO despite the retire deal. He deserves to play against a good player. Like nalbandian, he lost many matches playing awful against mediocre opponents but then when he plays rafa in the main court of miami he almoust beats him.. My point its that gaston needs that kind of motivation, tough rival in a watched or at least televised court.

Apparently he will play in Kitzbuhel first and in the Challenger of Trani then. And his ranking its 177, just 57 to go!

Wow, El Gato really is a great story. It's great to hear all this because I would otherwise never know anything about him. Thanks a ton ton! :not worthy:

13 tournaments. That's a lot. And he has to win 3! I think you are right about motivation for these small tournaments. From the two matches I've seen, once he gets behind, he loses interest. But setting goals might really help: win 3 tournaments and reach #120.

Went to YouTube and this was recommended to me. What a great montage. I had one or two of these in the past, but they got pulled. Now someone put them all together.

After writing this e-mail, I got all :thumbs-up: so I'm posting it here.

Quote

Steve says:
Going back to the U.S. Open correspondence, I recall you referring to hardcore Federer people as fearing Nadal might outshine him eventually.  I also vaguely recall a detached tone in the e-mail, as if you are not in a camp that prefers either player.  Am I right to infer that you just like watching hard-fought matches and do not care too much either way who is in the match so long is it's exciting, solid play?

So I says:
I have tons of favorite players, few if any, folks would recognize as tennis players: Haas, Gaudio, Gasquet, Gonzalez, Dent, Malisse, Robredo, Almagro, Tsonga, Henin (there's one!), Schnyder, Schiavone, Kuznetsova (maybe you've heard of Kuzy), Garbin, Petrova, Daniilidou.

I go to the US Open during the 1st week for a couple of reasons, not least of which being that my favorite players are still in the tournament. I've seen these each of they players multiple times; I could create photo albums just for these players alone. I scout the daily schedule and plan to be at the court they are on. So I do a lot of moving since there are about 10 courts in action at any given time. My daily routine looks something like this:
  • 11:10 Grandstand for Schnyder
  • Court 10 Haas
  • Grandstand for Dent (darn! can't see Schiavone today [Mon], but if she wins, I'll go see her on Wed
  • Court 7 Gonzalez
  • Grandstand or Armstrong depending on who is playing in the last match

*see why I don't want to go with other people  :)

But let's say Schiavone is first up on Court 7 at the same time Player A is playing Player B on Grandstand. However, after they finish a match that I have no interest in at all other than it end, #4 Murray is playing a pretty good player followed by Almagro v. another pretty good player. I'll camp at Grandstand because all day -- since it's general admission, I'd lose my very good seat if I left -- and try to see my favorite players in the next round. This isn't too difficult even though my faves aren't great; they're good enough to get to the second and third rounds, rounds of 64 and 32. The draw is 128.

As for Fed and Nadal, I really don't care for either guy. It's fun to rattle the cage of Fedfans because they were unbearable long before he was closing in on Pete's records. There's nothing like using people's words against them -- hahaha!

Just a note, the top ranked players only play in the biggest stadiums, and I can't get a good enough seat to enjoy their matches. So, when Henin was #1 or Safin (retired) was playing in the big stadium, even though they are my faves, I wouldn't buy a ticket for their matches because the seats are horrible.

Finally!

You'll recognize a couple of the names on my all-time list, all former #1 players.
#1 McEnroe  (highest rank #1)
#2 Rafter  (highest rank #1)
#3 Safin  (highest rank #1)
#4 Courier  (highest rank #1)
#5 Henin  (highest rank #1)
