Topic: OJ Simpson going to the slammer

I gueess OJ can now stand for "orange jumpsuit." 

I guess he deserves it....he did, after all, kill 2 people 13 years ago.  But still, there is a part of me that thinks he was targeted by the prosecution in this case because of what happened at the conclusion of his murder trial (this is kind of like a make-up call).

Your thoughts?

You'd think someone with his past would do all they could to stay under the radar. Maybe he suffers from delusions of grandeur or sociopathic tendencies or at the very least some sort of fascination with court rooms. I do wonder why the Goldman's were there though, this had nothing to do with them.

Why? Who cares what OJ does?

That's exactly OJ's motivation for doing crazy shat. It's the only way he can grab headlines anymore, and he knows he can do just that.

Great question, but I have to wonder, if nothing was reported, would people flip-out because the media dropped the scoop, or would no one care. I think the latter, but the world doesn't work that way. If CNN shows up with a camera, NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.. will have to follow suit. Today, the media makes the news, not the news.

OJ got a bad deal.  The sentence (for this crime, not anything related to his past) is too stiff.  He was just trying to get his stuff back for crying out loud.   His stuff!

No dude, I'm totally serious.  He didn't really kidnap anyone.  He truly went there to attempt to retrieve what he believed to be rightfully his.  Sure, he used very poor judgement, but he still did not kidnap anyone.  OJ, who should have been in jail long ago, is being sent down for something that is pretty questionable.  I really don't care about OJ either way, but the case is the case.  He should just get some probation for something like this.

One more thing. OJ doesn't have stuff. He lost it all in the civil suit. So he was trying to steal someone elses' property and it turned into armed robbery.

I will say this much, jeffrx, your thowing "double jeapordy" out on the table saves this story. Now that's a discussion worth having. But I'd really have to examine the facts... Maybe if you make your case for double jeopardy, I can respond.

Let's say you stole my photo album.  Then, I find out that you will be in a room with it.  In response, I round up a few of my boys with a plan to confront you to get it back (OJ was let in to the room, he did not break in).  One of my boys has a gun, which is never drawn.  Sure, I wanted to call the police, but they all hate me because I have a bad reputation, although I have never been convicted of a crime.  With no police to help, me and my crew get heated, trying to get the photo album.  You resist.  My boys are angry, but restrain from hurting you.  No shots are fired.  Nobody is injured.  For sure, there is no kidnapping.

Now, if this were to happen to me, I would not expect to receive jail time.  I could see a situation where the cops say "Jeff, which photo album is yours?  OK, take it and get the hell out of here before we take everyone to jail."  I would simply walk away with my photos and call it a day.

But, this did not happen to Jeff, this happened to OJ, a murderer.  He deserves to go to jail anyway, right?  Let's get him once and for all.

Like I said, I don't really like him or hate him....don't really care either way.  He should have been found guilty of murder.  In this case, he got a raw deal.  Rapists, child-molesters, drug dealers, carjackers, and armed robbers always get less than this dude if they have no prior offenses.  This is why I think he was tried relative to his old case.

Like I said, I don't really like him or hate him....don't really care either way.  He should have been found guilty of murder.  In this case, he got a raw deal.  Rapists, child-molesters, drug dealers, carjackers, and armed robbers always get less than this dude if they have no prior offenses.  This is why I think he was tried relative to his old case.

This is neither here nor there. I want to hear you back up your suggestion that this is a case of double jeopardy. Like I said, it's the only angle that makes this thread interesting.
