Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003, Sports Illustrated reported Saturday. The magazine says in a story posted on its Web site that the New York Yankees star tested positive for two anabolic steroids. SI cited four unidentified sources.

This should come as no surprise either. Give the examples he has, his teammates, Petite, Clemons & Giambi and Barry Bonds. Bonds and Clemons have not admitted to the alegations that they used performance enhancers, and are still outcasts, getting crucified in the media, and around the country. Meanwhile Petite and Giambi did their mea culpas and did some damage control, Now Petite is still possibly a viable pitcher in New Yorks future and Giambi just signed a contract to go back to Oakland.
Of course he does have one problem. In an interview with Katie Curic he stated catagorically that he never used steroids. Didn't feel the need to. This after Jose Canseco accused him of being a user in his second book.

A-Rod admits using performance-enhancers
NEW YORK – Alex Rodriguez admitted Monday that he used performance-enhancing drugs from 2001-03, saying he did so because of the pressures of being baseball's highest-paid player. "When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure. I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day," the New York Yankees star said in an interview with ESPN that was broadcast Monday shortly after it was recorded.

His admission came two days after Sports Illustrated reported he tested positive for steroids in 2003, one of 104 players who tested positive during baseball's survey testing, which wasn't subject to discipline and was supposed to remain anonymous.

"And I did take a banned substance and, you know, for that I'm very sorry and deeply regretful. And although it was the culture back then and Major League Baseball overall was very — I just feel that — You know, I'm just sorry. I'm sorry for that time. I'm sorry to fans. I'm sorry for my fans in Texas. It wasn't until then that I ever thought about substance of any kind, and since then I've proved to myself and to everyone that I don't need any of that."

The 33-year-old All-Star third baseman was regarded by many in baseball as the most likely to break Bonds' record of 762. He's already 12th on the career list with 553 homers, 209 behind Bonds.

Rodriguez hit 52, 57 and 47 homers in his three seasons with the Rangers, winning the first of three AL MVP awards during his final season with Texas, where he received a $252 million, 10-year contract in December 2000.

"Back then it was a different culture. It was very loose. I was young. I was stupid," Rodriguez said. "I was naive, and I wanted to prove to everyone that, you know, I was worth, you know — and being one of the greatest players of all time."

Seems as if not too many care about this story. But it gets worse and worse for A-Rod the more he tries to "explain" things the more he gets himself into trouble.
The was great anticipation for his entry to training camp a couple days ago. Duing his prepared speech (he literaly read off a few pieces of paper), he mentioned a cousin who supplied him with the drugs during his admitted period of use 2001-2003. He took no questions after the speech.
The media is in high gear for this story though (wish they could be this trueth seeking when it comes to politics) and they quicky tracked down A-Rod's cousin, one Yuri Sucart, and through him made the connection with Angel Presinal, who reportedly stayed in a room, at each city A-Rod played, with Sucart in during the 2007 season. Presinal is a known steroids distributer who has been banned from nearly every locker room in Baseball.
"Another source said Presinal accompanied A-Rod for the entire 2007 season, staying in the same hotel as the A.L. MVP, but in a separate room with the "cousin" Rodriguez pegged three days ago as his steroid source from 2001-03.
The cousin was identified Thursday as Yuri Sucart.
The source said Rodriguez avoided being seen in public with Presinal.
"He was around Alex in 2007," the source said of Presinal. "Every hotel they went to, he stayed in the same room with Yuri. You would never see Alex with [Presinal]. They would meet in one of their rooms."

So it appears A-Fraud will have some more 'splaning to do with respect to his relationship with this guy. Why the guy essentially travelled incognito with him to every stop in the 2007 season? Surely he didn't take steroids during the 2007 season. He's only admitted to taking them from 2001-2003.

I did think ARod was clean. Well there's ARod, Bonds and I heard hank Aaron was taking amphetamines from several sources in the past. Babe Ruth was on hot dogs and beer.

There is no way it was only 2001-2003.  A-Rod has probably been using steroids for years.  He's trying to saved what little face he has left by selling us the 01'-03' garbage, but nobody is buying it!  What a bunch of crap.

Yes, I find that use of a small time period in the past thing to be so overdone. Of course the use was/is on going.
