A source with knowledge of negotiations between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns says the teams have agreed to a deal involving NBA All-Star forward Amar'e Stoudemire. The Cavaliers would obtain Stoudemire, 26, in exchange for forward Wally Szczberiak and guard J.J. Hickson, as well as a draft pick

Say it aint so!  We can't lose Wally Scooby-snack.  I guess Amare would be a nice addition but how will he mesh with King Lebron?

This story came from the OSU student newspaper, and so far no one else (e.g., ESPN) is reporting it, so I am guessing that maybe the deal fell through.  The newspaper is going to get abused (as I am) for reporting this.

If that comes to pass and you are made to be the fool, then at least Scooby-snack will stay put!  He will be the key to Cavs winning the championship!

This morning ESPN was downplaying the possibility. They are saying Shaque-Fu is the more likely candidate to get traded. If some team is willing to take him.
They said the Suns would want one other player besides the two mentioned for Stoudemire.

I forget the two Cleveland players they are talking about, but Shaque is a heavy load financially for Cleveland (something like $23 million next year). However Cleveland is saying money is no object. They want to seal the deal and win a championship while they still have Lebron James.
There is also talk about Richard Jefferson, and the Staudomire thing is still in play too.

Teams looking to be players in the free agent market need to have expiring contracts so they can get some cap relief. They will trade a high priced player who is contributing, for an equally high priced player who is not if the new player's contract is a short term deal. Then they can get flexibility with cap space.

Clearly Phoenix is looking at positioning themselves for a run at a big time free agent. Don't know who's coming up though. Wallace is probably making a ton (the total value of the contracts have to be with in 10%), but the contract is longer than Phoenix wants.
That's not a great deal for Phoenix.
But Shaque will be expensive.
