I see there are some people pulling for Lleyton this week in Houston. Got me to thinking, is he now old enough that you've forgiven his past discretions and now find him someone to root for?

I have to say, I got to see Lleyton Hewitt when he was 17 at the Winetka Challenger; he had already won his first tournament (Adelaide). I was very excited to see him and very much a fan. But that had more to do with my anticipation about seeing him than really liking him. I don't like his style of play and he soon fell out of favor. Then I just didn't like him. But I have to say, I did find his 2005 Davis Cup match with Coria one of the most memorable of the year. :thumbs-up:

But today, I wish the old, scrappy guy well... to a limit, of course.  ;-()

Now that he isn't doing his "patented" lawn mower "comeon!" crap at the appointed times, he's a guy I hope will win more often than I don't.

Yes, mainly because he has stopped beating Andy. :rofl_2: I think I feel a little more pity for him so I feel sadder for him now that he's not ranked as high as he was before and he's really struggling. I would say I'm a fan now but I find myself supporting him more now.

Well I didn't like him that much because he use to beat up on Roger all the time (in his early years)...but after Roger started beating him back... I had no opinion of liking or not liking Hewitt.  :rofl_2:  I had no problem with his 'come 'ons' because when he played Roger, he really didn't do it that much.  Or if he did, it didn't bother Roger that much.  The turning match was that Davis Cup match that Roger should have won but Hewitt came back. But I never held anything personally against Hewitt.  I've seen worse on the court than him.

Now he's one of the 'elder' statesment, not winning that much, the underdog, settled, and all of these factors makes him 'likeable' to the average fan, I think.  He's not 'expected' to win so more people root for him now.

Yes definitely. I used to think he was a little skeezball. I think that once he had his baby, his whole demeanor changed.

Yes,I like him better now because now he's more a man than a child, but has lost his game because of his injuries.

Now he's back and time will tell.
