Nice match between Kim and Kirsten. The two have been friends since they were kids, but there was little love shown on the court! Kim is just a player of a different category and Flipkens shouldn't be too disappointed with her performance here. Dokic and Medina may not have been playing their best tennis, but they're still nice names to beat. Lets hope she'll keep up this level of play.

Kim will now face Venus. She's won their last encounter (US Open 2005) and Williams has been struggling with a knee injury sustained in her first round match. On the other hand, Venus has had more match play than Kim and has the kind of game that can really trouble Clijsters. This should be the highlight of the fourth round matches.

Sharapova and Oudin match.

The only way Oudin will win the match is Sharapova keep hitting DF. In just 6 games, both total of DF from both of them is 7.(Note: Fed VS Hewitt match just have total 8 DF from total 41 games.)

Sharapova maybe just need to slow down her first serve a little to make sure it in cause when she hit the big FH or BH to the corner of the court , most of the time, she win the points.

If Oudin wanted to someday win a GS title, she need to has bigger serve and bigger shots (FH or BH) , otherwise she can make supriss by knocking top seeds when they did not play at their best but when they play the best, she will hard to win.

Good news is she still 17. Long time to improve her skills.

I notice that since the Williams sisters introduce the women games with power hitting game, all of the women winning GS titles had big serve and big hitting shots. Players like William sisters, Sharapova, Henin, Sveta, Capriati, Clijster, Mauresmo and even Ivanovic.

Thats why Jankovic and Dementieva had some trouble winning GS cause when they really need a big serve or big shots to save them or win a match at crucial time, they did not have that.

Though of course mentality also a huge huge part of winning GS .

10 DF already in 8 games. ( 7 from Maria and 3 from Oudin) 10 winners and 21 UE from Maria (winners only 50% of UE) and 4 winners and 19 UE from Oudin. ( winners only over 20% of UE)

What a match with so many mistakes. Still Maria controlling the match and win 6-3 in first set.

Petrova win easily over Zheng Jie.

Maria should be happy if she can win against Oudin. She already beat Petrova 2 or 3 times when she come back to play this year.

Too many UE and DF really hurt Maria. meanwhile Oudin play better than first set and more agressive than Maria who play more defensive cause of her many UE.

Will be tough for Maria if shecannot hold her own serve. Now 22 DF.

My guess is that she is still screaming. She did not play well at all. Still, I was happy to see Oudin take the win and go to the next round.

It was one 17-year old too many for Maria as she crashes out of the US Open in three sets. Another great win for Oudin! This is the first time I've really seen her play and she was really impressive. Maria was spraying errors, but she's done that in pretty much every match since her comeback and she still won matches. To be able to win a match against such a tough competitor (after beating one of the favourites for the title a round earlier) is really cool. And she's small
