Oudin has proven herself as the real deal now with 2 consecutive 4th round appearances. Her Wimbledon success (including the huge victory over Jankovic) was no fluke. Amazing how she has backed that up against Dementieva and Sharapova. Of course she ruined my picks by doing so (I had Sharapova winning it), but I'm thrilled that a new American player has emerged so significantly. And she is only 17! Did everyone see what Sharapova did to that over 17 year old on Thursday night?!

I hope to see a lot more of Oudin. I liked her game, I thought she played smart and played within herself. She certainly battled some nerves and of course given plenty of chances as Sharapova was mis-firing, but Oudin is only 17. I think she has a lot of promise.

I think it's amazing that she took out Dementieva and Sharapova. If she can improve her serve she is going to be a great player.

Oudin is a very fine player and what's amazing is she can get better. I wish Maria was comfortable with her new serve so she wouldn't have hit so many DF's but she also will get better with time and perhaps the next time they meet the match will be enjoyable from both sides. I do appreciate Maria's effort and that's why I like her, she could have easily lost 6-1 6-3 in the 2nd and 3rd set but it was her fight that kept her sane after all the DF's and made it interesting. Well done to Oudin again, with another performance like today she should do well against Petrova

a lack of confidence in her new one which is something she needs to work on for it to be effective

i saw the Oudin v Sharapova match live today. Well the last several games. And boy was the crowd rooting for her. There were some "i love you, Maria" shouts but it was mostly cheering for Oudin. Who comes across really sweet.

Kudos to Oudin!!! That was a special moment.

The highest seeded still alive in round 16 from Dementieva draw is Svetlana who did not get a lot of attention in this year US OPen. But she quietly moved into top 16 and winning straight sets from three rounds. Pretty good. With Safina (maybe) melt down, I will not be suprise if Sveta will reach her third US OPen final in next Saturday.

Safina down a set and a break against rank over 70 , Kvitova. Somehow she buckle down and manage to win the second set 6-2 by winning 6 games in a row.

Safina need not to standing waaaaay back when receiving first serve and even second serve. Couple times she got a drop shot and cannot came out with an asnwer.

THe women players need to asked Tommy Robredo for a tip how to serve well. He serve 69% first serve in first set against Blake today. 2 aces and ZERO Double Faults in tie breaker first set. (and win)

Coverage on CBS. Venus and Serena and Rafa have to play during the day since TTC will air the night matches. Why else do you think Andy and Sharapova got day matches?
