There is a match that I remember reading or actually listening to Roger (may have been his interview with Charlie Rose or someone like that), credit his adult decision to stop smashing/throwing his racket. Apart from what his parents tried to do, he said after he watched a match between him and Safin, with both tossing rackets, that they looked SO foolish he decided to heck with throwing rackets.. lol. I really don't remember which specific match he was referring to or even if he mentioned it. Jus that bit stuck in my mind.

*adult as in older than 19 I think

Ive heard something similiar about a match against franco squillari in hamburg 2001 or 2002.. that he said, I have to change my mind..or something like that..

Interesting thing about Franco Squilaari is that Federer has never won a match against him and he has always lost in straight sets to him. The only opponent who has always beaten Fed in straight sets!
