Davydenko's strategy in his matchup was clear - hit to Nadal's backhand like a broken record, until Nadal puts up an easy volley putaway to his forehand, gets wrongfooted, or gets putaway by Davydenko's backhand crosscourt. Davydenko thoroughly deserved this win - you can always see how hard he works for his points, and he was clearly the better, more aggressive player on that day!
