When there is commentary, you hardly hear the "play" or "net cord" or even the players questioning the umps on controversial plays.
In these "no commentary" matches, you hear everything that goes on, on the court. ["famous" example - in the "regular" US Open semi match between Serena and Kim, you could hardly hear what she said. In the "no commentary" one, it was VERY clear she said, "do you want me to shove this ball down your throat!!"]
