I read this, USA F Jozy Altidore sprained his ankle yesterday.   

That's minor news compared to England's captain and key defender is out  I'm more raged that a Liverpool player in Steven Gerrard is now the England captain. Screw that!

In the practise matches of last week, Italy played unlike defending world champions, wow they played crap.

Uruguay will be hot!

Argentina, with the lunatic coke-head coach will win the World Cup, unfortunately.

The Netherlands, with Robben, Sneijder (both played Champions League final with Internationale and Bayern Munich, respectively), van Persie (best striker in the world) and v/d Vaart (Real Madrid) - probably the best offense in the world - will reach the final for the third time.

Portugal isn't a unit at all. All balls on Ronaldo ftw? They won't reach the round of 16.

History says european countries only have won when the world cup was played in Europe. South Americans the same except Brazil in Sweden 58. In JPN/KOR 2002 Brazil won.
I would love to see finally a new champion coming from Africa, as Pele has predicted will happen sooner or later. I expect the referees to be somehow a little bit pro africans.

I think I heard that if RSA doesn't advance to 2R, it will be the first time ever that the host county doesn't advance. Is that correct?

I am not sure, I think Japan did not reach the 2nd round but S.Korea went to the semis with 2 infamous referees against ITA and ESP.
Spain had a funny time hosting the WC in 82, a draw against Honduras and a defeat against Northern Ireland in the group stage in Valencia. unforgettable, but they reached the 2nd round at the Bernabeu with GER and ENG and Germany prevailed.
