85% liberal 15% con (because I'm ambivalent about the death penalty and I think immigration is f'd [interestingly, every liberal I know thinks the same; don't know any of these "let them all in" folk])
Also, the solution offered to fixing social security was lame; there are much better ways. In fact, a lot of our current problems could be easily fixed but people just don't know the solutions--they've never been presented because they are too politically unpopular. Basically, it would involve bucking the status quo and the status isn't about to be bucked anytime soon. November will be interesting. The center-left scored big wins in 2006 and 2008. Unfortunately, though there aren't any Republicans that act like Democrats, there are enough Democrats that act like Republicans. However, if things continue trending left in 2010 we could see some push back against the status quo, but I doubt that, too, because President Obama has shown that he's every bit the corporatist-whore that the entire Republican-whore party is.
They should have asked this; I was asked this on the street just a few hours ago as I was approaching my house.
Can you help a pregnant homeless woman?
I see homeless people everyday single day just a few hundred feet from my front door, but I've never before heard that one. I've seen homeless people with children--people who once lived with dignity but are now out on the street--but this woman had been homeless much longer than she had been pregnant.
