Well, 2011 turned out to be quite an exciting year in the end. Three months ago you were  :rofl_2: :rofl_2: and taking a victory lap, Chris. Good way to finish. I really thought Chelsea was going to do it, so good on United, a well deserved 19th PL title.

We certainly made things a little tighter than they had to be, but that's our way, we never do anything the easy way, we have to put ourselves through it :rofl_2: But thanks Bab, once we get that 1 point to :winner: :cloud 9:

Today's the day we become the most successful English team for winning Championships as 1 point will clinch our 12th Premier League title and 19th League title overall :yahoo: :grind dance: :applause: :winner: :shakey: :cloud 9: :yahoo: :grind dance: :applause: :winner: :shakey: :cloud 9: Its just soooooooooooo exciting knowing we are on the brink of it and with 90 minutes solid football today we can clinch that special 19th title and the celebrations can really begin!

And this can be rammed right down the Liverpool throats as this was back in 1994 when they had 18 League titles, whereas we had 8 at the time:

Thiw was never going to be forgotten by us United fans andnot to mention Sir Alex and the players at the club from that time to now, this is a really special day and this is now the right banner+1 after today:

I really am getting turned off by this buying titles. Cheap :thumb-down:

Hmm... I just check the MLS salaries, and the story isn't what I thought, however, the differentials are as they are because the top clubs are going overseas to bring a single player to the US rather than buying talent off the rosters of other MLS teams.

2010 payrolls
1. LA Galaxy +$11.1 million
Beckem

2. NY Red Bulls +$4.7
3. Toronto +$4.2
4. Seattle  +4.2

the other 12 teams are $2.3 to $2.8 million

$Million Players by Club - these are base salaries, not realized*
Chicago Fire
1. Nery Castillo (MEX)  $1.8 million *only played the final 8 games for Chicago
2. Freddy Ljungberg (SWE)  $1.3 million *only played the final 15 games for Chicago

LA Galaxy
1. David Beckham (ENG)  $6.5 million
2. Landon Donovan (USA)  $2.1 million

NY Red Bulls
1. Thierry Henry (FRA)  $5.6 million *only played the final 11 games for NY
2. Rafael Marquez (MEX)  $5.5 million *only played the final 10 games for NY
3. Juan Pablo Angel (COL)  $1.9 million

Toronto Reds
1. Julian de Guzman (CAN)  $1.7 million

Manchester and you are claiming its us  :rofl_2: :rofl_2: If you compare the money spent the last 4 years on players we rank 5th overall behind Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham. Lets not forget too that we got 80m for selling Ronaldo and have still not spent that money yet. In modern day football now to keep up and keep moving forward now you have to buy and strengthen, we need about 4 players this year but rest assured others will spend more money than us, heck Chelsea spent 50m on 1 player in Torres in Jan, whereas the last couple of years we have hardly spent any money.

Our titles were not built on money though Bab, it was built on the nuculus of amazing young players we brought through at the 90s in Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Beckham, Phil Neville, Butt- add that to the best manager of all time and those players and manager getting across to the other players how much they care for the club and their will to win and you have success. That's why those sort of players aren't possible to replace, now we only have Giggs left as a player :(

And don't worry Nasri won't be allowed to come to us from Arsenal, they won't sell to 1 of their big rivals, however the problem comes from him rufusing to sign a new contract and you can't risk him going for absolutely nothing next summer when he's out of contract.

See Bab your Arsenal are doing it too:

Arsenal have made Valencia midfielder Juan Mata, another star of Spain's U21 side, their top summer transfer target. The Gunners have offered 18m for the 23-year-old.

Raiding another league is different. City is bad, but I don't know if the others are cherry picking from the PL.

Yeah its a pretty common thing Bab players going between 1 EPL team to another but a rare thing is going from 1 rival to another. That's why I can't for 1 second see you guys letting Nasri go to us, you can't sell to your rivals for sure.

Chris, do you remember this dute, Faustino "Tino" Asprilla? He played for Newcastle from 1996-1998.

I was watching a documentary about the 1994 Colombian WC team and this guy was a beast throughout the WC prelims. Even scored twice against Argentina in a 5-0 route in Buenos Aries, could have been 3x but he wanted to get his teammate a goal. He was unstoppable and incredibly skilled. I was just wondering if he made an impact at all in the PL, or if he was considered a buster?

I read some Wiki on him and he sounds like a big prima donna arse clown. Got kicked off the national team during both the 1994 and 1998 WCs when Colombia were considered among the favorites to win but crashed out in 1R each time.

Yeah I remember him very well Bab as he was at Newcastle when they were 1 of the main ocntenders for the Premier League title. He came across with a pretty big reputation but you got it in using the word 'bust' and 'clown' that's just what he was really and was a real flop over here for the most part and that's why after a couple of seasons he was moved onto somewhere else. As you say though he had a real talent about him but his attitude and some of the things he did really let him down.
