Topic: Will Nadal catch or pass Sampras in slam titles

Do you think Nadal will end up catching or surpassing Sampras in slam titles.  My guess now is yes definitely.  I see him winning atleast 15 for sure.

Definitely a Yes from me. Said this for a while now and with every passing month my belief he will pass it grows all the stronger and within 3 years I see this happening.

His condition is a classic example of RSS (Repetitve Stress Syndrome).

Going forward, it's now a question of what goals Rafa hopes to achieve since his playing days are numbered.

i dont think he will get to 14. he will have a few more great seasons but fade much faster than federer or sampras have.

Nadal at age 27 or so, will play three-or-four-shots rallies. And will still win.

Well, predictions,  I am going to start saying that I could not care less if he has more majors than Sampras or Federer, those debates about goats are not my thing.
Nadal just after the USO was asked about when he will consider retirement and Rafa answered "I will stop when I will lose the will to improve, to train", so basically I just want to see him enjoying his career, he knows how to win and more important how to lose.
Nadal is 24, he will probably not be able to play in some slams due to his knee problems, that's a big factor. His prime time will probably end at age 27-28.

ok, Vamos! McEnroe just after the FO was joking about "enjoying the good company while it last", Rafa had the same number of slams, "because this can change in just a month". McEnroe then predicted at least a couple more FO titles and two other major titles in other slams. I agree with McEnroe about the FO, At least 7 titles at the FO. 8 Titles will mean to break the all time record of Chris Evert.
Then at Wimby, in the next 4 years, probably 1 more or perhaps 2. And I also expected in this 4 year period at least 1 title at the AO and USO. That will make Nadal the 3rd player to win at least 2 titles in each major, Emerson and Laver.

So, at the very least, 7 FO, 3 wimby, 2 AO, 2 USO, TOTAL 14
he is in a good position to catch Sampras.
Now if you push more and try to be very optimistic, 8 FO, 4 Wimby, 3 AO, 2 USO, TOTAL 17

These predictions are very hard. Right now Rafa is on top of his game, it seems nobody can stop him. But this is sport at a highest level, you never know what's behind the corner.

I think that if he remains fit, he's got !at least! 2 Wimbeldons and 2-3 French Opens in him. He's already proven he can win AO and USO, he could do it again.

If the level of his game stay like this he will pass Sampras easily. But like I said, you never know.

I am not going to vote but it's quite possible for Nadal to either tie with Sampras or break his slams count. It would be a terrible day for tennis though.

A year ago I figured something like 10-12.
I guess he may get 13 total, not too bad.
He can always lose at RG even, so that has to be taken into account.
Remember how long it took for the first 6 majors, a long time.

Not to mention, things change fairly quickly. I think Federer record will be safe for a while. He should get a couple of insurance slams just to be even more safe.
