WASHINGTON: Defiantly warning Americans that "the war with the Muslims has just begun," as he was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison for a botched terrorist attack on New York City's famed Times Square, a Pakistani-American jihadi has further complicated US ties with Pakistan and the Islamic world.

Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistan-born US citizen and son of a Pakistani air force commander , remained unrepentant as a New York judge announced his sentence. "The defeat of the US is imminent and will happen in the near future," a smirking Shahzad told the court. "Brace yourselves because the war with the Muslims has just begun."

I'll say this much, Clinton was as much a "free trade" douche bag as the rest of 'em. In the name of "free trade"--which is a total lie--Libertarians worships at the alter of the all might multinational corporations. The Liberal Democrats have introduced or will be introducing legislation to retaliate against China's manipulation of their currency and stem the outflow of jobs overseas. The 4 DINO Senators plus Loserman, and Republicans in unison (that's redundant), blocked the Liberal Democrats' bill. It "only" got 53 votes but needed 60 to pass.

So, yeah, Reaganomics, Clintonomics, and now the dum-bass DINOs (Clintonians) are saddling up with the Libertarian Right Wingbat Republican party.

"Brace yourselves because the war with the Muslims has just begun."
"I think 9/11 was a pretty good indication that we crossed that bridge"

this is quite an important statement and the first error we can make is to underestimate the enemy.
Clinton did not realise the problems when the terrorists attacked the us embassies in Nairobi and Tanzania before 9/11

I'll try to give a small European opinion, do not like this topic at all.

the great and unforgettable Italian journalist Oriana Fallacci invented the term "Eurabia".
the long time ruler of Algeria made a historically statement decade ago, Butteflika said:
"we will not win the war with arms, we are going to win the war because of the bellies of our women"
while European families have 2 children, Muslims have 4 or 5 children.
the invasion, Eurabia.
the violent protests in the Paris banlieu, Madrid bombs, London bombs.
I will not be shocked at all if in the near future they try to distroy the Vatican.
A month ago, Gaddafi said in Italy the same words of Butteflyka, invasion due to demographics.
Even the Iron Lady or chancellor Kohl did not see what was coming. The Londonistan or the turk ghettos in Germany.
Just a month ago, the terrorist were ready to bomb the Barcelona underground but the police caught them in time.

USA will probably not have the same amount of Muslims in the country but politicians are doing a very big mistake:
with all the focus in the Middle East, they are forgetting what is going on in Latin America.
Latin America is turning into countries with almost Communist regimes and with very anti American feelings.
Castro is too old and almost done but he made sure of one thing, he made a legacy in a lot of Latin Americans and he created successors in other countries like Chavez or Morales.
the Basque separatist/terrorist group ETA trains in Venezuela and they have all the support of Chavez.
Now, if the USA don't try to change the wave that is going on in the Americas then:
keep in mind, in 2040, 100 milion people will speak Spanish in the US and they could be a lot of anti American feelings and probably even Latin American terrorist groups operating in USA.

I guess the question becomes "How do we 'change the wave'?".

sometimes I think with all the focus in the Middle East, it's too late to change the wave, for 2 reasons:
-you can not solve those 2 big problems at the same time.
-as for Latin America, the union between countries is quite strong, they almost are all the same.

we need to react as quickly as possible, because the problem will only get bigger.

USA must do something in Latin America, help the countries like Colombia who don't have anti american feelings and in the other countries intervention "a la Kissinger" trying to bring down the leaders. the sooner, the better.

just imagine for a second, if we don't take actions, an alliance between Latin America (in America) and the Middle East (in Europe) and don't forget the role that China can play in Asia. India and Japan are so scared about China.

I agree that there are many similarities among the people of South America.
Intervention of any sort is a very tricky business.

I totally agree, I do think they should start helping politicians with no anti americans feelings to stop the wave.
Yes, it seems that Chavez is slowly becoming unpopular in Venezuela and that's very important, because Chavez is the new Castro and Venezuela is one of the richest countries in the Americas due to the petrol they have.

I am also quite surprised about the US foreign diplomacy, especially since Hilary is the wife of a former president and she knows the mistakes he made. During the Clinton years, they have almost a policy "laisser faire, laisser passser", they didn't do enough or realise the danger of terrorist, only some strikes in sudanese garages and some air strikes in Baghdad while Al Quaeda was getting stronger and more organised.
Sadly I have the same feeling about Nobel Peace winner Obama, I think he is too soft, I think the terrorists were very happy he won the last election because they knew they will have time to regroup and again become stronger and finally I think the terrorists will attack again when someone in the White House will start really to try to crack down the terrorist organisations.

Being a professor isn't a real job? :confused1: I guess I'll let my tenured professors know that they haven't been working for the past 30 years. :rofl_2: Maybe it's just me, but it makes sense that we save during an economic boom and spend what we save during an economic recession, to create jobs and stimulate a sluggish economy. I've only taken micro and macro so maybe this is too simple of a concept but it makes sense to me. :dunno:

USA must do something in Latin America, help the countries like Colombia who don't have anti American feelings and in the other countries intervention "a la Kissinger" trying to bring down the leaders. the sooner, the better.

That's precisely what helped anti-americanism. Allende is a hero, a myth, for the way he died, regardless what policies he developed. The shortest way to guarantee national support is to find a common enemy. That's what the Argentinian military dictatorship did with the Falklands War.

Needless to say I repudiate both death penalty and the principle behind Monroe doctrine. And I'm personally close to many of the US policies, so close that I've often been called 'fascist' in my country. But you should know many here says that the political options in America oscillates between the right and the extreme right :))

Let me try my hand at this game!

You've never been a businessman, met a payroll, been responsible for someone else's liveihood.
You've never walked a strike line, been a union rep, or been at the wrong end of a gun because of it.
You've just read books and listened to far-left nut job professors (who've never worked themselves) preach about theoretical economics.  Am I close? :))

You're so clueless you haven't a clue there's a difference between macro- and micro-economics. You talk jibberish about macro, when you haven't a clue about macro issues. Not in your fish bowl.

Being ignorant doesn't make you right, but it does make you sound stupid.

monster, I don't even understand why you try so hard. You're extremely handicapped from the start. You conflate global and local constantly. And because of that, it's impossible to take you seriously. That you try to extrapolate your experience of running a 5 man business in New Hampshire (effing NH  :rofl_2: :lmao!: :hysterical: OMG I can't breathe, effing NH :rofl_2: :lmao!: :hysterical:  just makes... well, to me... your chest thumping and spouting off only makes you look silly. Perhaps you've successfully snowed over the others.

I've never had a serious discussion with you because you're totally ill-equipped; you're in over your puny head. When I want to know how to run a small business, I'll definitely come a callin'.  :)

Ask yourself this: have we ever had a discussion about running a business? No. Our discussions about economic policy always focus on macro policies endorsed by the Obama admin. I can tell you all day long what the Dems and Repubs have done that's wrong. You've never, not once, had anything to contribute to any discussion. You're so biased by Fox, you can't approach a discussion with any trace of objectivity. It's all Obama, all bad, all day. You can't stand that Obama is President, you've made yourself clear. It pains you so that you've never been objective, not once. You need to take a look at when you and swish found religion on economics. Late 2008 when Obama was about to clean McClown's clock. Fox scared the crap out of you two boneheads and you started regurgitating their cud here. Not once did you knuckleheads question anything Bush did. Bush!  :rofl_2:  :rofl_2: :lmao!: :hysterical:  To you and swish and Fox, Bush is beyond reproach.

Go back and read our discussions--more accurately, my diatribes--you've never, not once, had anything to contribute. Why? Because you got no game. It's been just one perpetual dunk tank.
