Serie A & B

Babblelot:
Is this right, Siena had made 7 consecutive years in Serie A dating back to their first ever in 2003-04? A streak that ended this year.  :(

Similarly for Reggina. 9 years since their first appearance in 1999-2000. Sent back down after 2008, I think.

Babblelot:
So Enrico Chiesa is the legend in Siena?

And in Reggina, it's David Di Michele, Emiliano Bonazzoli, Francesco Cozza, and Nicola Amoruso? 2005-2006 looked like their best season, moving up 2 spots to finish 13th after the trial.

Pietro Marino maybe a relative. My mother is a Marino from Calabria.

Babble, calcio italian wikipedia :)

Reggina: serie A, 1999-2001, lost the playout to Verona, then again in Serie A in 2002-2009.
first period in Serie B was: 1965-1973, then Serie B again in 1988-1991, they were 5th in 1989 and lost in the playoffs to Cremonese, then serie B again from 1995-1999.

Siena: correct, 7 years in a row in Serie A. However Serie B in 1935-1936, 1938-1948 then again in Serie B in 2000-2002, Serie A 2003-2010.

the most interesting thing about the all time table is how established the top 16 are, the gap between the top 16 and the other clubs is incredible, making a very difficult battle, almost impossible, to avoid relegation for the small clubs.

for example, 17th Triestina, played from 1929 til 1957 in Serie A, then another season in 58-59 and that's all.
Trieste has the the only world cup 1934 stadium where the national squad has never plated, Stadio Littorio, later called in honor of one of the players of Grande Torino, Giuseppe Grezar, now Triestina plays at Nereo Rocco, a legend during the great days of Triestina.

the opposite story is 21st, Parma 20 seasons in Serie A. Serie B in 1929-132, 46-49, 54-65, 73-74, 79-80, 84-85, 86-89 then  finally with big sponsor Parmalat, Serie A, 1989-2008, 2 italian cups, 1 italian supercup , 4 european titles! back in Serie A only 1 season later, 2009-2011.

Chievo Verona has taken the traditional spot in Serie A of Hellas Verona.
Chievo Serie B, Debut 1994-2001, 2007-2008. Serie A: 2001-2007, 2008-2011.
Hellas Verona, 24th, scudetto in 1985!!! Serie B 29-41, 48-56, serie A 57-58. Serie B 58-68. Serie A 68-74. Serie B 74-75. Serie A 75-79. Serie B 79-82.  Serie A 82-90. Serie B 90-91. Serie A 91-92. Serie B 92-96. Serie A 96-97. B 97-99. A 99-02. B 02-07. downfall since 07.

Again the top 16 are in another level, only Torino, Atalanta, relegated last season, 3rd club from the Lombardy and Vicenza, 16th are not in Serie A.  Palermo is getting close to the level.

of course Chiesa played for Italy in Euro 96 and WC 98. He played for Parma, Fiore and Lazio and 5 years in Siena 03-08 then he called it a career as a pro.

the biggest legend of Reggina is probably Cozza, 4th all time in matches played, 3rd all time in goals, then Amoruso, 7th all time in goals. Bonazzoli played 2 seasons 03-05, Sampdoria, back in Reggina since 09. Di Micheli, not even a significant player.

Francesco Marino started his career in the youth level of Reggina, then played two seasons in 96-98. He was born in Melito di Porto Salvo, Reggio Calabria. don't know Pietro Marino as calciatore.
