Topic: Instant replay for thennis.

There has been talk on using instant replay using shotspot.  If you do you cannot play the point and then ask for the replay when you lost the point after going back maybe serveral more time.  If you think the point or second serve landed out of bounds you have to stop right away the ask for instant replay.  If you win the challenge you win the point if you lose the challenge you lose to point since you never hit it and it was ruled in bounds.  If you think the first serve was a fault and ask for instant replay all that happens is that person gets a second serve if it was rule the first serve was out of bounds.  However if it was inbounds you lose the point.  Many people probably would not ask for replay on first serves and try to play the point.  If a ball was ruled a fault or out of bounds and  you though it was in bounds and you won the challenge you mihgt not win that point and it would be called a let if the judges figured the call influnenced continuation of the point.  It is just like overrule today.  You would get a certain number of challenges per match which would be two or possibly one for each set.

I am not sure what the best approach would be for this...  It would definetly slow down the game as players would want to see points a lot...

It could just be used by the chair ump to verify calls"?  It might be neat if the chair ump had a small screen on their chair that showed where the ball really landed according to "Shot Spot" and they could overrule that way and the players wouldn't have to be involved.

Either way, I would like to see it in the ame of tennis somehow...
