I feel sorry for your friends though, Babbs but that's still their side of the story, right? In any case, if you truly love your freedom and want to have your life back, then just get out of that marriage.

Btw, one of them is in the process of getting divorced right now. Her decision, too!    And it gets worse! She made him get a female divorce attorney so that she'd have a more sympathetic advisary.

There are those that compromise and then there are those that completely surrender.  In the end, they both reap what they sow.  I couldn't resist the gardening cliche with spring approaching and knowing you're sooo fond of them!

My guess is that women despise men that surrender just as much as we do.  After all, they are no longer really 'men'.

I have a pal who's forsaken his individuality.
He has to ask permission to participate in any activity not on The Warden's schedule.  Being the ballless boy that he is he also endures the cruel mockery from aquaintences for his submissive behaviour.  Ahhh, what a life.  Then he has the audacity to complain about his situation.  You can't fix stupid.

I've been MIA since AO from the other message board too but I suppose it would be nice to ask them. I have some very intelligent friends there who seem to know a thing or two about these things and can give more insight on this matter rather than just stay on the surface and make things as black and white as women are just plain controlling.

I am sort of torn here though because you know, my last two Exs pretty much controlled me or rather I let them control me, because I like it this way better for some twisted reason lolol, but seriously, I have female friends who are thoroughly dominated by their husbands/boyfriends and then there are friends, who are being completely dominated by their women.

But you know what they say? They say, no one can control you unless you let them.

You don't have to. I found it quite normal the way it was twisted. I mean when was the last time men actually did not make something/anything innocent to something not sexual? They will have to use their actual brain for this and gasp! ....think. That's why I say, men are just...........men. It's pretty much like saying, pigs are ....well, pigs.

Okay, so not too many women here come to think of it but I can tell you that, BGT is going to be total control freak (no offense please) and Dallas has her own manipulative ways with her hubby. I mean, come one, the woman watches tennis like 24/7.     
 
I don't have a man in that sense yet, but just so you know, he once said that he'd be totally and utterly in love with me and propose me right away if I loved Federer just as much as he does. Now, how controlling is that, huh? I mean what is this? So if I end up controlling the later part of this relationship; that is, if that happens, then you can't possibly blame me. For all know I am innocent, damn it!

Relationships shouldn't be about controlling each other or who controls whom. It's a very immature and insecure thing to do. If you have the right concept of marriage/relationship, which is more about compromise and sacrifice to some extent, and a far better understand of why we are the way we are, there shouldn’t be any problems. But unfortunately, we are all but that.
 
I am not too big on marriage myself but women do tend to feel insecure both financially and emotionally, hence the controlling part especially in a marriage. Men, on the other hand, are much less trust worthy and not as responsible and lack emotion considerably. So there’s a deep conflict of interest to begin with – no wonder why most marriages are doomed from the beginning.

Anyway, who knows if that works or not. It's a long shot anyway. I have a better question for you though - do the short distance ones work? I would assume not because I see my friends getting dumped all the time. It's either that or they are getting divorced or they are in arguments all the time.
