Here's a forum I've been looking at for quite some time and it occured to me to post it.

Some strange stuff but some good stuff too.

Lets say you want to cool beverages in a tub with some ice.
You put them in there and wait, but to make it cool the ~~beer~~ er beverages faster just add salt to the ice.
Reason: Salt will turn ice into liquid at lower temperatures so the water won't be 32F or 0C, it will be colder, and transfer more heat from the beverages quicker.
This is why salt on an icy sidewalk melts the ice, it can remain liquid at below freezing.
