Just curious about this demographic on this board.  Feel free to leave a post if you do not mind making it public, but if you are a private person you can just vote in the poll.   :))

I was raised Baptist but have become an atheist over the past year.  Well I guess technically agnostic, but only agnostic in the same sense as believing in the flying spaghetti monster, just because you cannot disprove god.

There needs to be a slightly more clear distinction here between "what is your religion" and "what are your religious views". But I think most people have made it clear in their posts, so nevermind.

Also not to be confused is spiritual vs. religious. organized religion *might* just be a propaganda to get a hold of the masses but can the core fundamentals and principles behind religious have merit? Most definitely. And can humans lead a better life by embracing the deeper spirtual concepts that lie at the core of some orgnized religions? most definitely. Does that make them religious? Not necessarily.

Can you explain what "deeper spiritual concepts that lie at the core of some organized religions" you are referring to?
I'd agree that some of the core fundamentals and principles do have merit such as not stealing, and not murdering but these are morals that humans have come to through reasoning and by analyzing the impact of their actions on others.  There is not correlation between these morals and belief in a father in the sky.  I think we would all agree that someone's "religiousness" or lack thereof is not indicative of their moral character.  But again I am not sure if that is what you were getting at.
