Germany to abandon nuclear power by 2022

Basically Merkel gave into the green-hysteria. Good luck with replacing 25% of electricity generation with Russian natural gas + renewable in just 11 years. also watch the German economy go into the s**tter.
Then we will fight in the shade.

Atleast the children will not be born with strange abnormalities, people will not be shedding all their hair by 20, people will be born with limbs intact and at the right places; all this in the event of a nuclear disaster, something man is not capable of being insulated against. Kudos to Germany, the rest of the world should follow suit. Its not green hysteria at all; infact nuclear power generation produces no smoke unlike thermal power. This is in the wake of the disaster in Japan. Nuclear power is a monster, a frankenstein. Man doesn't know how to control his greed and plays with energy. Big fool that he is.

The American Right Wing's race to the bottom in action again. Unfortunately,  they wrestled away the political discourse in this country 30 years ago, and you hit the nail on the head, falconi, it's driven by greed and selfish detachment from the earth and it's inhabitants, the great intellectually depraved Ayn Rand's contribution to the world.

^^ The problem is that the rest of the world is now gung-ho about nuclear power. Apparently close to 70-80% of the energy in France is generated by nuclear power, India signed a deal with America on a nuclear bill just a couple of years back wherein America and India will be collaborating to have more nuclear related stuff. A small country like Japan (The size of British Columbia) has over 50 nuclear plants. What utter nonsense? I would prefer living in darkness than to see people around me with cancer and abnormalities which will stay on for atleast 5 generations. The choice is this...do you look to travel in super comfortable, high speed, 24*7 powered trains or would you rather not risk your children's lives. I hate this nuclear power business. Man doesn't need it and he definitely doesn't need to play with it.

In economics, we have a lot to learn from the German model in response to the global financial meltdown. Tragically however, the right wing's mind control over know nothing dumb ass America has them talking about American exceptionalism, a mindset that demonizes anything that threatens the status quo (greed and power).

 I give you FFF.

Come on young man. The floor is yours. Put forth your case. Make an intelligent argument and back it up.

What it would really be like is having the ability to string sentences together in a coherent manner to form an intelligent, articulate case and supporting the argument with referenced facts. And it would also mean subjecting yourself to the scrutiny of those far more informed.

Big ask of a young man going through the awkward emerging adulthood stage.

No...first back up your statement. Babbs asked you to explain something and you aren't. We've already explained why Germany has made a wise decision here

There is nothing wise about it - it was pure political calculation due to public panic.

But why don't you see that nuclear energy is dangerous? Why are so many people blind to that fact?

If you were only intending to opine about the politics of Germany's decision, you should have stopped there. But you decide to take a blind leap into German economics. That was my entry point. I want you to tell me something about the German economic model that I don't know. Why it succeeds or fails presently. Why it will fail in the future as a result of their decision to go green. I'm looking for a strong argument based on the historical relationship between energy and economies.

Now it's your turn.

Germans will be ok if they accept a lower standard of living as a result of less GDP. There is no way that renewables will make up the 23% that nuclear gives, so less electricity = less production = less GDP. It's common sense. but if Germans are OK with that, whatever. ..-) ..-)
