USA Soccer - Men's

U.S., Bradley exposed by Mexico in loss

PASADENA, Calif. – U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati declined to show support for under-fire head coach Bob Bradley after the national team lost the CONCACAF Gold Cup final to Mexico 4-2 after taking a 2-0 lead!!!!   :cursing:

This is ridiculous! Please get rid of Bradley  ://

The hosts look good to take another win here to be honest having won it the last 2 times its been held. USA are always a danger in Womens football though so maybe they could be their biggest challenges. England will at beat make the Semi Finals and thats at the absolute best.

Quarterfinals

Germany 0-1 Japan
Japan-Maruyama 108’

England 1-1 France (3-4)
England-Scott 59’
France-Bussaglia 88’
Double heartbreak for England, as they give up one in the 88' then lose in a PK shoot out after being up one following a miss by France. Familiar refrain.

Sweden 3-1 Australia
Sweden
Sjφgran 11’
Dahlkvist 16’
Schelin 52’

Australia
Perry 40’

Today 11:00am ET on ESPN
USA v Brazil

Yeah yet again we lost on penalties!! It doesn't matter if its the Senior team, the under 21s or the women we still can't take penalty kicks! Incredible upset though as well last night with the 2 time defending champions and hosts Germany losing to Japan. USA look good for this now you'd have to think.

My goodness! Just a stupid loss from Germany, which is a shame, because I like to see the host country in it longer. Just unbelievable.

USA up 1-0 HT after Brazil suffers an own goal at 74 seconds in!

USA outplaying Brazil up to this point, though Brazil has had 2 really scary chances.

WOW!! That was dramatic stuff as USA had a player sent off after 65 minutes, then Brazil made it 1-1 in 67th minute. It went to ET where Brazil scored early to lead 2-1 and it looked all over but a last gasp goal from the USA made it 2-2 in the 122nd minute. It went to penalties and 1 miss from Brazil was enough as USA took their'sfantastically to score all 5 and go through 5-3 on penalties to the Semi Finals. USA now become big favourites to win the whole competition.

Amazing stuff. I love Megan Rapino. She sent the ball in to Wambach with the deft touch of a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, just over the fingertips of the keeper and dipping so that Abby could keep it down. The USA looked like crap the 10' minutes of the 1st half and first +10 of the second. Seemed to me like the whole thing turned on Megan's insertion!  :not worthy:

I saw 9 goals scored when I turned the match on @ 120 minute mark. Soccer should be like that all the time
I lost the will to live mid way through the first set!

Maybe if they played 10 v 10 we'd get more scoring. After the first 25 minutes of the game, US looked like crap until they went a woman down. It was only then that they started playing well again.

USA v Japan for Women's World Cup :winner:

Coverage begins at 2pm ET ESPN; kicks off at 2:45

I know we are taking some heat for not competing in major international sports that rank 5th or 6th in the States, but the women's Team USA program is proving once again what we are capable of in a sport that ranks near or at the top among women athletes here. Unfortunately, women's soccer is waaaaaaay down the totem pole in overall interest. Chicago's WPS team folded at the end of last year and the league still has just eight teams.

The Miami Heat would like to thank the USA Women's National Team. Talk about a choke job. Those penalty kicks were just atrocious. The first Japanese penalty kicker, her swag was off the hook.

With smaller goal keepers, I didn't think it was possible to miss PKs. I just can believe what a mess Brazil and now the US made of them. Hope Solo looks pretty tall, but she's only 5'9". How do you miss PKs against short keepers???  :confused1:

When you're about to kick a penalty in a World Cup Final its pretty easy to get nervous and shoot horribly. It all depends on how well you can hold your nerves. Doesn't matter if you're Kaka or Messi, if you get nervous you'll miss the shot.
