I'm glad to see you  back to this board  . I don't know what to expect regarding Rafa. It's very hard to say. OK, Nole has a momentum right now but it's not given. Rafa is still very young. .

And Babs and other guys here please behave. Herc does tend to be very passionate sometimes but he does love tennis. Show some respect. Last time he has posted on this board you  all have  jumped as if he is a terrorist or something.

But our dearest herc is only here when he is banned from MTF. That's not showing much respect to us either, now is it?

Why are you informing me with all this? I have more than 7000 posts. Shouldn't that tell you that I am here long enough to know who he is or what name he used to use? In fact, my first 3000 posts are probably with him going back and forth back in 2008 and 2009. Alex, really. I think it's time you admit yourself in a loony bin.

i will go on record right bloody well now and say that monte carlo, rome, and RG are in the bag in 2012.

and i dont rightly give a damn about anything else.

rest will take care of itself. the guy plays with the wrong hand, has been injured off and on since he was 17, and has still beei snatching slams since he was 18.

i dont know how much more we can ask of him. the game is becoming more demanding with each passing month, let alone year by year.

nobody will ever get a chance to win 7-8 french opens again. now that is immortality.

considerling the limitations due to the mechanics of his heavy topspin strokes, he has not exactly been  miserable on quicker surfaces. he does not have the time he needs on quicker surfaces. he does what he can.

bottom line: only a fool will write him off. he is good for 4-5 more slams.

I don't think anybody who understands this sport will write off Rafa. I really don't know what's going to happen. We have 3 amazing players. I'm not good at predicting things. I think that Nadal can and will win more majors. When and where, who knows? Tennis is a tricky sport. Guys get injured etc.

If anyone can make the necessary changes needed to re-assert himself, it is Nadal. And he still has the ambition to excel. What I liked about his USO speech as runner up was that he acknowledged how strong Djokovic is & said that he saw this as a challenge to come back stronger. Words to that effect.   
I think he will be fighting for pride & honour & these losses will have motivated him.  CLAY DEATH - I agree that he might have become complacent - but he has a wake up call, and I'm expecting him to come back very strong in 2012. I suspect the spoils will be shared by him & Djokovic - on paper & on form this year, I can't see anyone else threatening that duopoly.

If he can get that backhand to its previous precision and if he can sneak one win against Nole, it will be very hard to stop him. All I expect of him is a win over Nole. That will give him all the confidence in the world that he needs.

once the monte carlo, rome, and RG are in in the bag and in place where they have always belonged for the clay warrior king, the rest will take care of itself.

I agree with Falc. If Rafa could def. Novak once things might turn around for him. I'm sure he is working hard. I do think that he should get rid of his uncle Toni and hire a real trainer who will be able to give him some new perspective. Rafa needs some sort of change in his life in order to improve and move on.

One win would not erase the last several loses and the fact that Nole's game pushes Nadal back on his heels.  It might boost his confidence a little, but one win for Fed over Nadal would not change much either.  Just the way it goes.  But with that said, I don't believe Nadal has been at his best this year, but I think Nole has a way of making a player look off of their game.

Yup.  Nadal does it to Federer.  Nole does it to everyone, but it seems to affect Nadal a good deal.  Maybe because Nadal just never looks like he is on his heels and is usually dictating more play.

its funny how some folks continue to hang their hats on 2011. a very big mistake as far as i am concerned. he will break down nole on clay next year or anybody else that gets in his way on his turf.
 
2012 is another year. he fixes his fitness and his serve and the story will change.
 
also as i have suggested. i fully expect the clay warrior to take care of his turf next year.
 
madrid can be lost again but he is not going to give an inch of real estate at monte carlo, rome, and RG. that should set the table for the rest of his year.
