this  is a must davis cup win for the clay warrior and spain.

i think it will revitalize his mindset and his drive going forward.

there is still lots of work to be done on the fitness front. that simply has to be fixed for 2012.

CD - you have to know that a fresh Juan Martin will be chomping at the bit to beat Clay Warrior on his own turf. The fact that Juan Martin almost nipped Roger @2009 FO will give him confidence.
Then we will fight in the shade.

if spain loses the doubles point today then the d-pot vs clay warrior battle is on tomorrow.

i dont think d-pot can stay on the court with nadal for 4-5 hours tomorrow. that is probably what it will take.

nadal had an easy match the other day so he should be well rested and ready to go 4+ hours if he has to.

I concur, and it's DelPo's fault. He had plenty of time to get his endurance up to top level, there's no excuse for him and a waste of what ever other talent he has.
Every part of the game needs attention, sacrificing one won't work in todays game.

How do you know D-Pot hasn't been putting in the endurance drills? Maybe it's just too much for the 6'6" lug. Let's face it, he's not the ideal tennis physique. There is a reason the top 4 are all that.
Then we will fight in the shade.

6 foot 6 frame does mean a high center of gravity.

still that 5 setter against ferru yesterday is going to cost d-pot tomorrow. i think the clay warrior will be totally focused tomorrow.

6-1 6-1 6-1 D-Pot won't stand a chance.

If DelPo comes out tired tomorrow and gets taken to the shed then so be it.
A good arse spanking will do him good.

I've been handling him with kid gloves since the injury but the honeymoon's over.

So basically you're saying that anything short of perfection is unacceptable. Do you hold yourself to the same lofty standards or only Nadal? If only Nadal, why?

i prefer to be his biggest critic. being a huge fan of all the great clay monsters of the game does not mean that i have to be kind to them.

i once started a thread here titled "clay monster`s limitations". it was one of the logest threads ever here.

we all had a lot of fun with it.

that thread is probably still around somewhere.

When Nadal can get breadsticked on MUD in SPAIN how is he going to do on faster surfaces next year? Yeah he's gonna get pwned and that London match with Federer showed the proof.
Then we will fight in the shade.

i still maintain that this davis cup will revitalize his hunger and his drive.

he will still have to schedule smarter and train better in 2012.

why not learn from Fed.

al that being said, he is planning to skip davis cup duties in 2012. i guess he has proved all he needs to prove on that front for now.

also the sport is too demanding today and the schedule is brutal. he may want another gold medal at the olympics also.

Nadal won't play Davis Cup in 2012[/t][/t]
Ticker - Sunday, December 4, 2011
[/t]

[/t][/t][/r][/t]     After leading Spain to the Davis Cup title over Argentina, No. 2 Rafael Nadal tells reporters in Seville that he will not play the competition in 2012, instead focusing on Olympics in London. Some reports have it that he will also focus on trying to get the No. 1 ranking back.

It's a tough year coming up, olympics, DC and the regular season.

Nadal as well as all the players will have to train, schedule and rest with intelligence. The game requires that more than ever.
