There is no way Nadal is going to sweep the clay season, I was right in 2011 and even more so in 2012.

there's no need to sweep the clay season either........montecarlo, rome and french open are more than enough.......if he wins those, he will be very hard to stop at wimbledon......

howdy hercules......i am surprised to see how satisfying he looked winning the doubles.......it's almost like watching brians holding wimbledon.......that's a sign of concern because the will factor is negated when his focus is elsewhere.......


you got it general. and i did get a look at that doubles match. he was horrible with his return in the 2nd set.

and as for the volleys,  anybody can put away a volley at the net and still i saw him push/guide a few volleys a few times he was at the net.

that doubles is actually hurting his singles game. he played from the backcourt so that is no way to learn anything.

CD - I get the feeling that Nadal just doesn't care about hardcourt tournmanents anymore. Only the clay matters to him.

CD - all I'm saying is that there is no shame in #3. Nadal will never challenge for most weeks at #1, so why not just forget about the ranking and focus on cleaning up the clay? Roger has proven you can clean up lots of titles at #3.

i never said anything about "most weeks at #1" old sport.

still if you want to win slams, it is best to stay at #1 or #2.

you also start to lose some of your additional endorsement potential if you start to drop in rankings.

so nobody really wants to drop. the trick is to move up or at least maintain.

A drop in the rankings will also drop his already low confidence. He did look very listless in that match against Fed, while Fed still seems to be having the drive. Confidence does make a world of a difference. hopefully the clay season will instill Rafa with the much needed confidence.

now seriously, I don't think Rog will overtake #2. I mean sure everything is possible, but I don't see it happening. we are about to enter the clay season and we all know who is the king on clay.

CD - you said the same thing in '10 and look what Rafa did - he had his biggest year yet. What are you worried about old sport.
