the game is all in the movement.......he won't be effective in the quarters and semis stages in slams as long as he keeps moving this poorly.......there is no excuse for not staying fit.......

Unless he starts working on the fitness I'm afraid he'll continue to get what he's gotten lately.

I just hope that he doesn't think his forehand will be enough, he'd be dead wrong.

I am afraid to say he can have some serious problems to stay injury free and that really affects what he needs to improve more, his confidence and mental strenght, for example he withdrew from Queen's, then with what kind of confidence is he going to compete at Wimby. at least his serve has improved so much, when he came to the scene, all the comments where about he is so tall but has no serve. he really needs to think he can beat the top 3, like at the uso 09, but he needs to stay healthy to have confidence in himself. if he stays injury free and cam improve fitness he'll be back trying to challenge the big 3, never thought he is the in the same category as Berdych who has the game but will never have the selfbelieve that is needed.

I hope D-Pot learns to serve & volley. He can't just sit back on the baseline trading blows for eternity.
Then we will fight in the shade.

He played some really great volleys in the Olympics semi against Federer.  :)

Depends on how that wrist is.  Or if he'll have to basically play his forehand and a 'slice' backhand....because he wasn't getting a lot on that double back-hand with that injury.

He was so happy to win the bronze that I hope he didn't "peak" there and have nothing left for the rest of the season.  It will be interesting to see.

just do it!

Hope he does well.
The left wrist problem should be better as it didn't look to be severe at all.

He absolutely has to get his forehand working 100%, not only power but accuracy.

And the endurance better be there, that's one area he should by now be at peak.

swish - it just seems that D-Pot can't find that next gear to his top level.
Then we will fight in the shade.

I've been waiting for it. It looked like he turned the corner against Fed at the Olympics but then the wrist bothered him and seemed to effect his whole game.

I'm still waiting.

best of 5 sets and the first three rounds will give him some time to settle down on decoturf and start swinging big come semifinals........the surface is fast so his groundies will penetrate any defence........

the semis and finals will be night matches so his WTA side won't show up in this tournament.......i think he can win it with some hard work if his current wrist injury is not much of a problem any more.......

For me, I would like to see more he come to the net and make more drop shots!

drop shots are risky.

also if you are trying to hit drop volleys at the net it simply means that you cant volley or are afraid to volley.

Maybe! Del Potro doesn't have great hand like Federer or Hingis. Keep it simple can be more suitable for Del Potro. Still, I believe he still need to come to net more.

affirmative. he does need to develop a more dominating presence at the net with that reach he has.

you simply must go in behind some of those devastating drives to the corners.
