I mean, OK all tournaments are important but I can hardly wait for the FO. sure it would make me happy if Nole takes IW and Miami but he did it before so it's not a big deal. Will he win more masters this year? sure he will.

Is that a gotcha question?

What makes you think you got me with that, because you didn't? But I'd like to know why you think it was a decent attempt.

What can I say Babble? Depending on the time of day, you will find any way you can to denigrate Federer's legacy.
Then we will fight in the shade.

I understand. But in this instance, I was making fun of Dallas, my other favorite pastime, arguably my favorite... aw, s**t, my favorite pastime.  ;-()

I think the MS-1000 titles/tournaments have lost something from the past.

 :rofl_2: :rofl_2: :rofl_2: :hysterical: :lmao!:

Oh my god, Dallas, you're killing me!!!

So since these esteemed tournaments mean a LOT in your eyes, Federer 6 YEC is very good then.

This is a good point, don't win Masters don't win Slams,Don't play @ YEC :rofl_2:  Maybe it's time to call it a day as a Tennis fan??????????????????????????? ;-()

Sid, to be honest with you, it doesn't really matter. Nole and Rafa don't need to win either tournament. I actually hope Murray can take both. however, all it really matters are slams. I'd love to see Murray shine but it's not gonna be easy.

Alex - don't you want Djokovic to challenge Nadal & Federer for most MS-1000 titles?

Nadal - 19
Federer - 18
Djokovic - 10

Nole has some work to do.

I think the MS-1000 titles/tournaments have lost something from the past.  I mean, there USE to be a difference between the 1000 tournaments and just a regular tournament in the past where at least the final was best of 5.  I understand why they went away from that - but I think they need to do something to make it different from a 'regular' tournament.  Right now, there isn't that much of a difference between these tournaments and the regular tour tournament.

Well, no need to go further than your signature I guess. It says "Sweet 16 Grand Slams", not "Sweet 18 Masters"   :)~

As for Dallas dissing Masters Events, I'm very curious to learn how this is being employed by Roger Federer Nation. My hunch is that the only "big" titles that matter are those in which Roger has more than Rafa.

That sounds about right.

I figured you would default to that.  I would guess Fed would rather win another 2 slams rather than 20 Masters Events.  I am sure one day when you run into him you can ask.

You are really some obtuse people. How is this a slam against Federer and not against Roger Federer Nation?

We went over this last week. You really need to take my slams personally.

Babble - we are in agreement that Grand Slams are the final legacy of a tennis professional. If and when Rafa gets more then Roger, he will be the GOAT. Until that moment in time, Roger is GOAT.
Then we will fight in the shade.

He's certainly a GOAT and to fuss over anything more is childish. I'll never understand why this discussion is so important to tennis fandom.  Unfortunately,  John McEnroe,  another GOAT, fuels this idiotic debate at every turn, and now he's at a loss. Since Rafa beat Roger at 2008 Wimbledon,  he has not been able to reconcile how the alleged GOAT can be owned by his chief rival,  and since then, that ownage has only gotten more lopsided.  Shame on John McEnroe for leading the parade of idiots.

finally, watched the replay of final on star sports.......i have to say it's the same old defensive garbage from nadal.......when will he learn that that dropping the ball short will not cut it against djokovic?

no depth in groundstrokes for most of the match.......if somebody made a graphic of both players' groundstrokes of the entire match, i am sure rafa's ave. rally ball would be dropping around the service line and djokovic's ave. rally ball would be somewhere near the baseline.......

absolutely no depth and no pace off the backhand and stupid return of serve standing way back.......the outcome of most of the rallies was never in doubt once djokovic found rafa's backhand in the rally.......

i definitely see some improvement in rafa's forehand and serving compared to his last two meetings with djoko but his backhand and return of serve have been utterly useless and contributing significantly to the lack of depth.......

that's why i said before the match - he's better off hitting a few backhands long than going into a shell and staying defensive off that wing.......that way he would find some rhythm and dictate off both wings.......that desperate slicing was only because he did not have confidence to stay aggressive off that wing.......

really if this is the level which still took him to almost the brink of victory, why the freaking hell does he not find a way to stay aggressive off the backhand side?

You don't think he tried to play more aggressively? :confused1:
I thought the drastic increase in aces, double faults, and UFE's were clear indicators that he was playing a riskier game against Nole.  Not consistently, but it seemed to be a definite shift in strategy to me.
