My dream is to see my favs against their chief nemesis. My nightmare would be to see my favs playing each other. Whom will I support in this case?

I don't understand what could be misleading about the title. And I don't understand why people would leave their favorite player out of their personal dream final, but obviously including their favorite player isn't important to everyone.

See, this is where you epically fail.  Why does it have to include their favorite?  I am a fan of tennis so I want to see great tennis.  I was very entertained by yesterday's final, and it happened to be the top 2 players in the world.  That's what I want to see, the 2 best battling it out over a 6 hour epic final!  If that is not what you want to see that is fine, but don't poop on those who want to see something else.

I personally think that matches between Rafa and Djoker produce some high quality rallies and great tennis. I would pay to watch their match anytime!

Where do I say it has to include your favorite player? I said you people who don't care if their favorite player is in their dream final are Class B crazy.

I also said I realize people will make up fictional rivalries like Laver v. Federer, but I'm not looking for that.

What I'm interested in are actual rivals like Fed v. Nadal (even that's too hard for yous, because it has to be Fed in his prime!! v. Nadal).

Man, I thought I dumbed this down so much that even a simpleton like you could handle it.

Let me give you my dream final and explain why.

McEnroe v. Connors or Lendl

Johnny Mac is my all-time favorite player of ALL-TIME. Connors and Llendl were his chief rivals and nemeses, and I disliked them, fiercely as well.  There's no hedging my bets. If McEnroe wins, Woo Hoo!! If he loses, turn off the tele and get some fresh air because it's going to take time for this to wear off.

I suppose a lot of you are thinking Laver-Federer or something of the sort. But that's not what I'm looking for.

I'm asking, is your dream final contested by your 2 favorite players or your favorite player and his/her Nemesis or something else?

For me it's about some of my fav great players playing the ultimate opponent.

I was about as disappointed as I'll ever be over a pro match when Safin thrashed Sampras in the U.S. Open final.  Marat's game was breathtaking and Pete had nary an answer.  So much for The King of Swing being invincible and able to serve through anything.     Not that court, not that day.  So for me, watching 2 of my favs play a big match is not enjoyable even if the tennis is spectacular.

I'm with Chris... I HATE to see my favorites match up against each other.  I'd rather they match up with someone I don't like - that way I can 100% pull for them against "the enemy"!    I hate to see match-ups like Blake vs Warwinka...or Serena vs Venus....something like that, because I love all of these players.  Now with Roger, it's no contest... I'll be pulling 100% for him against anyone.

I would like to see Prime Lendl vs Murray!  Now that would be interesting to me.  OR, Lendl against Berdych... yea, let Lendl aim for him at the net! - and you know he would!

I'm with Chris... I HATE to see my favorites match up against each other.  I'd rather they match up with someone I don't like - that way I can 100% pull for them against "the enemy"!    I hate to see match-ups like Blake vs Warwinka...or Serena vs Venus....something like that, because I love all of these players.  Now with Roger, it's no contest... I'll be pulling 100% for him against anyone.

Completely agree with Dallas here. For me I had to see it once a Slam Final between Maria and Victoria so in 20, 30, 40 years time if I'm still alive I can say the 2 girls I choose from such an early age once played on the biggest stage against each other. That's what will always stick in my mind. Yes the scoreline and nature of the match was disasterous but it can never be taken away from me now that I once had the chance to see a player I'd followed from 15 and 1 from 17 play a Grand Slam Final against each other. But now its happened once it really doesn't have to happen again because you can't celebrate a Grand Slam victory like you can vs any other player. As I say ideally next time Maria will play say Serena and thrash her and Vika will play Woz or Kvotova and thrash them. When Vika won her 1st Slam I should have been going crazy and celebrating like mad but I couldn't because of Maria's pain so my emotions were soooo split. The only consolation was if Maria had lost like that to somebody not called Victoria I'd have felt 100 times worse.

So now that its happened once I hope both play their biggest rival and thrash them or a player outside the top 20 and thrash them in their next Slam Final. I got what I wanted soooo badly once so I'm not needing that again(although if 1 makes a Slam Final and the other is playing in the 2nd Semi I ain't all of a sudden going to be cheering for their opponent to beat them and avoid this matchup again at all costs!)

Yep so what's different to anything I've said here? It had to happen once, it has happened and now I can always remember that Maria and Vika played a Grand Slam Final vs each other. It doesn't need to happen again.
