tourney for US tennis as 34 y/o Michael Russell dismantels Fish then outlasts Harrison.

Harrison has a lot of road work to do to build his stamina. It's a real weakness for him at this point.

please, can you explain more, do you think he is too soft? he is only 19 y.o.
he is that kind of player I like and admire, no big weapons at all, just wins with a lot of fight from the baseline.

I didn't know. Bad news for American tennis, indeed.

I didn't see today's match, but I do believe Ryan has big weapons: big FH, big 1st and 2nd serve--it's already considered one of the best in the game. But from past matches, the swings away from the FH and will run around the BH to the point that he gets pinned in the corner of the court, and thus has a lot of open court to cover. As a result, he runs out of gas.

Highlight, Isner ran into a sky high defensive lob on MP that was going wide had it not hit him on the back as he ducked to avoid it.

thanks for the info about Harrison, he was a great surprrise, I discovered him at Wimby last year, he pushed Ferrer to 5 sets and was 2 sets to 1 up! I like him a lot!

Babs, I didn't see the match either, but did watch Harrison and I really like him. I think he is very talented. I do agree with you that he looks weak and needs to improve his fitness and his stamina.

As for Fish, he is still not 100% coming back from his injury ... not sure why he even entered this tournament

Hello Chaps! I've managed to find time for the current tournaments today & note that Isner & Monaco are playing the final. I'll try to watch it.

Whilst I am not surprised to see Blake out early, I note that Fish went out in straights in the second round & Harrison followed him in the QF. It's disappointing to see Harrison unable to make his mark, even in these tournaments where the field is less onerous.

Anyway, I hope it will be a well contested final.
