Not a good sign when you hit one of your best serves and ask the chair to overrule it and call it OUT!

Nadal 7-5

Stan gifted him the chance to serve and take the 1st set! Rafa not impressive.
Nole played very well.
Berdych was very agressive and Murray had no answers, Berdych had 4 set points to take the first set and almost 16 break points in the entire match, Murray had just 1 bp.  Again negative attitutde and too passive. Lof of questions to ask to Lendl, the clay season for Andy not starting  well, let's see how he does in Barcelona.

He doesn't get a pass because this match was played on clay. Typical Tsonga.

Simon wins the final 5 games of the match.
Allez!

Good to see Haase / Tsonga / Wawrinka still there  - if any of them muster up the where-with-all to lift this trophy, I'll eat my hat!
thank you very much for not mentioning Simon!  :) he called for the trainer at the end of 1st set, feeling letargic, diziness, but Tsonga was just horrible, 43 unforced errors. Simon in to the semis, last french to reach the semis in Montecarlo was Gasquet in 2005. Bravo Gilles! :)

I was very surprised by the defeat of Murray. I thought he would beat Berdych.

My pleasure CONCHITA!   I think Simon has an excellent game but I would support Tsonga any day over Simon.   As for the match, I didn't watch it, but if medical trainers were coming out etc, and Simon still stayed focused to win, then he clearly deserved it.   I would gladly eat my hat if he wins's this title !!   :)

And as for the rest, another of my assumptions came acroper!!  Murray losing to Berdych was a disappointment. And I didn't mention Berdych either!!

you're welcome GAWDBLESSYA! perhaps the most interesting thing about the match was to see the coach of Azarenka. Seems Vika is in Montecarlo and not playing Fed Cup this weekend, she will play in Stutgart next week, she is 26-1 so far in 2012! :)

Me too. Murray is much better than Berdych, would be a very good semi-final between Djokovic vs Murray. Now the final between Nadal vs Djokovic is almost certain.

Yes, Murray is a good player, but he isn't a top player.
