OK, let's *play* BUY-HOLD-SELL

Pick a player and tell us whether you're buying stock in him, selling stock you had previously purchased, or just holding the stock you purchased and will wait-and-see.

I'll start with Isner

Big John's hot right now and I think his stock is oversold. I had acquired a nice chunk of it a while back, but now I'm going contrarian and will sell. If you're interested in why my change of heart, you can read my comments here.

ash, buying Tipsy. That's interesting. I'm going to start selling some Tipsy stock and buying more Almagro because I think they will swap spots in the rankings.

I made a small fortune buying Angelique Kerber stock early. Now I'm going to buy some stock in her countrywoman Mona Barthel. I'm buying stock in Spaniard Garbi Blanco, too.

I picked Kaia Kanepi to win 2012 AO but she lost in 1R. I'm still holding all of my stock in Kaia. However, I bought a lot of stock in Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova picking her to win Wimby two years ago. I've dumped it all.


Back to the men, they are really tough since all the overbought players (Dmitrov, Tomic, Cilic, Dolgolopov, Raonic, Nishikori) suck or have shortcomings. I bought up a lot of stock in Raonic after 2011 AO, but I've been gradually selling it off with each injury. Never bought stock in the other 4. I'll buy Albert Ramos. I like this lefty's style of play. Another unconventional Spaniard.

I don't think he consistent enough, it's great that he's made it to top 10 but I have this feeling he'll be out of the top 10 soon. just a feeling.

ash, I'm not sure I'd buy Cilic. he disappointed me so much. but, hey I respect your opinion  :).

now as far as Ivanovic is concerned, I'd buy anything  ... she is so pretty  :rofl_2:

main reasons for buying cilic :

1. judging by his 2011 clay season performance, he only lost to Fed(monte-carlo), delpotro( madrid), nadal( rome) & some guy in R1( roland garros)..if he doesn't run into any freaks, he could make the semis. at least.
2. i like this guy..he's got my attention ever since his wonderful run at aus open 2010 !!

I have to say, Cilic was oversold early, and I imagine people started dumping his stock some time ago or are just holding. I really didn't expect to see someone buy stock in Cilic now.

What makes you want to do that right now? What are you seeing that others are not?

Yeah I bought Cilic stock and it paid of big time in AO 2010 but he's been sliding since. I've been holding but actually I would buy right now. He's got the work ethic, he's got the height and the game, he's got the feet, it's only a matter of time.

I'd definitely sell Isner. I'm buying some more of Raonic, I expect a big move from him in the clay season and then the grass.

You do?  To me, his game is definitely NOT suited for clay.  (I don't know about grass)...but clay?  I would sell him for 'clay'.

I'd also sell Soderling because I don't think he's going to come back any time soon.
