Interesting about Murray.  I mean, he's still 'relatively' young, but for what Novak and Rafa has accomplished in the same age range...Murray is quite a bit behind them.  Now if you put all these little 'injuries' in the mix.... he might be a player to 'sell'.  Of course, I never bought him in the first place.  (don't tell Sid) :rofl_2:

It's more like "Well there's no one else, Murray's the best we got.." than "Murray's the best we got!". You have Nadal Djokovic and Federer and then you have the rest of the field, the VERY BEST of whom are capable of taking out maybe one of these players every now and then, but none of them has shown anything to prove that they can go all the way. Murray's also not shown he can go all the way but he's gotten closer and maintained a level of consistency beyond any of the others. So it's pretty much who's the best bet to step up IF Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer falter and the answer by process of elimination is Murray.

I don't want to say it's unfortunate because that's just not fair for people who have made their own fortune, but it doesn't seem like Nadal/Djokovic/Federer are going anywhere anytime soon. At least as a trio of champions, they're very hard to break down. Maybe one of the falters every now and then but as trio, they're too solid.

Do keep in mind though that it wasn't too long ago that the same could be said about Federer and Nadal alone and Djokovic put himself in that equation on his own, so no excuses for Murray. For all we know it could have been Murray in Djokovic's shoes today but it isn't and he has only himself to look for a reason for that.

Gasquet just took out Murray.

I'd have to say their stock is headed in opposite directions.

I disagree. Gasquet has a bag of skills matched by just a few and he's capable of big wins, especially against Murray who he seems to match up fairly well (Remember he served for a straight set victory against Murray in Wimbledon QF a couple years ago?). But there's a reason why Murray's been in grand slam finals, has wins over Federer/Nadal/Djokovic and has been in the top 4 for years now and Gasquet has not..He might not be on the verge of a breakthrough but I highly doubt he's going anywhere. It would take a solid few performances by Berdych or Tsonga or Ferrer to unseat Murray as the 'best of the rest.'

He's not at all dull. That couldn't be further from the truth. But he is very frustrating...  :(

I really think Murray is in the same pit Roddick found himself in in that now it's Murray going through one coach after another. How many coaches has he had? Mother, Gilbert, Maclagan, Mother, Lendl. Dude is only 24! And what's worse, his results are getting worse with Lendl.

It's bad, pawan!!  :scared:

Gasquet has been playing really well lately. Got to the final in Lisbon then did well in Madrid and is doing well here. I don't expect big things from him, but he's on the way up.

You took the words out of my mouth.  Murray seems to have a reputation of being a "bad student".  He is not good with his coaches and when Lendl took over, all his fans were saying "this is good and Murray wouldn't dare shout and Lendl"...etc.  Uhm... seems like his results are going backwards instead of forward since Lendl has taken over.  Hey, I loved Lendl when he played and it hurt me to my heart to see him coaching Murray (of all players)... so if it doesn't work out - that would be fine with me. :rofl_2:

That's rather opportunistic. When Murray lost in a 5-setter against Djokovic @ AO, he was close; now, after a series of losses on clay, Murray will be Roddick and is to be taken over by Tsonga or DelPo.

Murray plays his best tennis in the Grand Slams. That's a good sign.

Something else you haven't taken into consideration with respect to one of the "Next 3" overtaking Murray is that the Olympics are a 750 event IIRC, and 2 of the "Next 3" have reached the semis or better at Wimbledon.

Murray plays his best tennis in the Grand Slams. That's a good sign.

He also had a bad beat in IW, losing his first match there. I know it's early but the comparison to Roddick is apt. And don't forget, each time Roddick switched coaches, there were immediate, but short-term dividends.

It's bad.  :scared:

Murray has SF points to defend in Paris. Will be interesting.

Good investment choice babs,,

it certainly paid off well..i believed in murray too much..i thought he always played well in GS...however, i am not selling him now..Wimbledon has always been good for him..( at least till SF)..& post wimby tournaments ( toronto & cincy ) has also been good for him in the past..maybe i'll sell him post US open..

almagro paid off..Tsonga definately  paid off !!

What about buying Haas? He looks good (IF) he stays healthy...and that's a big "IF" with Haas.
