BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy Integral Part Of Bustling Bucharest
Located in south-east Romania, Bucharest is the nation's capital city and industrial and commercial centre. The Palace of the Parliament is the largest building in Europe and the second largest in the world. The ATP World Tour 250 tournament, held since 1993, changed its name to the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in 2011 in honour of its two iconic ambassadors Ilie Nastase and Ion Tiriac.
The BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It is currently part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the ATP Tour. It has been held annually in Bucharest, Romania, since 1993.
The tournament has yet to see a Romanian winner in singles (though the 2005 edition saw two Romanian players reaching the semifinals, and the 2007 edition saw Victor Hănescu reach the finals), but a Romanian pair (Andrei Pavel and Gabriel Trifu) did take home the doubles title in 1998.
The organizers announced that from 2012, the ATP World Tour 250 series tournament will be scheduled to take place in April, so it will end an age of 19 years when it took place in the last week of September
The BNR Arenas (Romanian: Arenele BNR) is a tennis complex in Bucharest, Romania. The complex is the host of the annual 250 series stop, the BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy. The stadium court has a capacity of 5,000 people

2011- Mayer Clinches First Title
Florian Mayer became the ninth first-time ATP World Tour titlist of the year and the first German to lift silverware at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy. The second seed defeated fourth seed Pablo Andujar of Spain 6-3, 6-1 in 72 minutes to break an 0-4 losing streak in title matches.
Andujar Denied Again - For the second year in a row, Pablo Andujar lost out in the Bucharest final. A year earlier he was beaten in his first ATP World Tour final by Juan Ignacio Chela. He dropped to a 1-3 finals mark.
Home Favourite Ousted - Bucharest native Victor Hanescu was ousted in the first round of his hometown tournament by Albert Ramos. The 30 year old reached the final in 2007, finishing runner-up to Gilles Simon.
Chela Upset - Top seed and defending champion Juan Ignacio Chela was beaten in the semi-finals by Pablo Andujar, a re-match of the 2010 final. The Argentine had been looking to reach his second final of the season.
