I saw (i.e., forced to watch) Serena for the first time ever.

I was supposed to see Maria for the first time ever, but her opponent w/d and I was forced to watch Hrdackended v. Makarova... On center court! until the men started at 1:00 on Stadium 2.

I only saw 3 women's matches, and they were brutal. I would have like to have seen Kerber and maybe Errani, but I'd rather watch the men. Not sure I need a combined event going forward.

I feel like Chris now!  By 2 favorites are playing each other for the title.  I'm in a win-win situation...but I don't really like seeing my favorites play each other.  Anyway - GO GIRLS!!!! May the best player tomorrow win - and I'll still be happy!

Asked about criticism from Djokovic and Nadal over the slippery surface on the Manolo Santana show court, Williams told a news conference that women were simply tougher than their male counterparts.

American Serena Williams returns the ball to Victoria Azarenka of Belarus during their women's final match at the Madrid Open tennis tournament.

Wow, this blue clay dispute is on fire now. Especially, Serena said something on this dispute. ..-)

Serena at this tournament was like her old self again.  Power and more power!  Aces and unforced returns.  This is on clay too!  I think Serena will be the year for Serena to get her second French Open title after a good ten years.  No more Justine to stop her here!  There is nobody in her way the way she is playing on clay!

Williams took Azarenka apart in this final.  No contest. Congratulations to her.  Quite how winning this compares to having babies is beyond me.
Carpe Diem

Serena won the Women's title (and Roger won the men)... It was a perfect weekend in tennis for me.
