the last attempt was past 8:00 pm but the rain doesn't stop, the final will start tomorrow at 12:30 local time, the crowd didn't like the decision to cancel the final and throw little bottles to the court. (la gazzetta dello sport)
link to the foro italico, stadio olimpico, the italian football cup final just to get underway at 9:00 pm and still raining

They have no control over mother nature! :rofl_2:  The good thing is that neither of these players were going to play a tournament next week any way.  So a Monday final shouldn't hurt either one of them.  Anyway - I'm out of here for the day - have to finish celebrating my 58th birthday!!!!!

:yay: :Happy-Birthday!:  Happy birthday, Dallas !!

NEWS :

Apparently there was some big confusion between the ATP & the FFT about the seedings for RG 2012..
FFT usually uses the ranking as on Monday morning..& as of now( monday morning) Federer is ranked at no.2 !!so that would now mean fed would be seeded no.2 no matter what the rome masters result is !!
but after some time, ATP said the seedings would be decided after the finals..

not sure what the end decision is...will post if i get any news..

Honestly it makes no difference if Federer or Nadal is 2/3 because either way they will play in the semis.
Then we will fight in the shade.

Ha, too funny!  Sounds like someone is manipulating the system in terms of dates.  I do not believe Fed has a good chance at the FO anyways so I do not see it really making a difference.  :)
Good Luck on the Court!!!

The commentators confirmed at the start of the mens finals that the seedings at RG will be based on rankings after the rome finals..

& meanwhile, Rafa just won the first set..7-5 !!

Ugly tennis... And Djokovic's game is completely sterotyped. He also has a hard time finishing the points.
Nadal is moving well, defending in squash shots, etc.
Actually, he was playing excellent in the first few games, with good length, pace, and agressivity, but then started to play more passively, with high balls...His shots became a bit shorter by the end of the first set, but Djokovic was not even able to take advantage of this. In fact, he looks a bit scared to hit some shots sometimes, and is missing some easy ones.

Edit: nice matchpoint, it reflects the match: Djokovic self-destructing.
He looked frustrated out there. Maybe he was too sure of himself, hence couldn't bear the fact that Nadal "resisted" him...very strange, he looked like 2 years ago.

there was no doubt in my mind that nadal was going to win and most probably in two sets.......once rafa found his feet, it did not matter what djokovic brought to the court......he was simply given a tennis lesson on clay.......

the sub-par movement i pointed out about djokovic earlier(which angered his fans) was on display once again today.......he is not as great a mover as rafa is on this surface.......he does not have the same control on this surface as he has on hard surfaces......i remember actually very little sliding from him.......

there is no answer to nadal on clay.......no answer.......there will never be.......
