Alex, you shouldn't blame the guy because what he said is correct in some languages. Take for example, in Ukrainian/Russian there is a pronoun that can mean his/yours/theirs etc. Its crazy but what can you do !!

A little example:

Я маю свою книгу. I have my book.
Він має свою книгу. He has his book.

What happened to my boy DelPo?

I'm losing hair.
He was looking pretty good and was starting to make some awesome shots recently.
He also had a 5-1 H2H against Tsonga. Jesus man, get your game moving again.

Ha ha! You guys were spoiled by Federer winning 200 out of 212 matches.

Welcome to lowered expectations, home boy!!   :rofl_2: :rofl_2:

Well there was some wonderful tennis today, and I was delighted to see some of my favourite players on court, although it didn't go well for all of them.

Starting with Federer / Ferrero - what a joy to see these two playing together again.   Federer played some exquisite tennis, and then, inexplicably, went away with the fairies in the second set.   Ferrero - a gem of a clay courter - showed why he was once world number one. Thoroughly easy on the eye, these two.

Mind you, Federer looked tired out there - he'll need to rest well to play Seppi, who is doing very well on home turf. His match against Wawrinka was full of twists & turns & these two challenged each other throughout. It could have gone either way but in the end, Seppi did the deed! Good for him!

What a strange match between Ferrer / Simon!  6-0 & then 7-6.  Simon can play some excellent tennis at times & he gave it a go in the second set. But Ferrer remained steadfast & took it in straights.  I'm glad to see him get through.
The Ferrer / Gasquet  QF match should be interesting. Ferrer's tenacity pitched against Gasquet's shot making.  A contrast in style & hence potentially entertaining.

The Berdych / Nadal QF is also potentially interesting. If Berdych maintains his focus & determination, he ought to put up a good match with Nadal, who is looking formiddable out there.  But he hasn't had a "real" challenge yet - perhaps this will be it.

Djokovic / Tsonga could go to the wire. If both play well, this will be very well contested & should be entertaining.  I was sorry to see Del Potro go out. Tsonga effectively cut him off at the roots after playing an inspired first set.  He'll be tough to handle if he retains his momentum, but perhaps this is just what Djokovic needs to bring his full game to life.  Lets see.

One thing is for sure - there should be some good tennis tomorrow!

I totally agree about Berdych/Nadal. Berdych has got his groove on.

Tsonga   :insane:  He can't back up a good result.

I'm glad my boy got through.  I really have no expectations for this tournament after Roger won last week, but I'll be pulling for him as long as he's still alive in the tournament.  Amazing that Juan Carlos and Roger basically came on tour together....(1998)...yet their careers have gone almost opposite.  I remember back in 2004 the commentators were talking about the "youngsters" who would be battling for #1 for a long time (Roger, Juan Carlos, Nalbandian, and Roddick).  Jump forward - the only one who really lived up to the 'hype' was Roger.  I saw a stat that he has won over $70 million in prize money compared to $13 million for Juan Carlos...yet both started in 1998.  I know Juan Carlos has battled injuries so Roger really has been blessed (so far) for not having a major injury in his career.

Anyway.... I'm sure 99% of the crowd will be against Roger tomorrow... I just hope he can come through against Seppi.

Juan Carlos - injury marred career
Nalbandian  - injury marred career
Roddick - very close to beating Roger 2x at Wimby, remained top 3 for 3 years. Poor Andy  :(

If Roger can get through the Seppi match in 70 mins or so, that gives him a shot against Nole in the semis.
Then we will fight in the shade.

Tsonga's  fizz is indeed inconsistent BABBLELOT  -  a pity as he has the "big game" that could do some boat-rocking in the cosy world of the current top four.   I last saw him several times at the WTF in November 2011 ( I was there for the week ) He just exploded with energy & power.  Exciting to watch amongst the limp effort of some of the others.

Anyway, in an effort to sit on the fence, you will note from my comment above that I said "if" he can play well & "if" he can maintain momentum!    :rofl_2:         If I step off the fence I'm backing Djokovic to beat him. Will it go to three sets?  I'm back on the fence. Only "if" Djokovic isn't  playing with both eyes on the ball!   :)

Djokovic, Nadal and Federer win his matches.

Indeed, each man did win his match.  What are your expectations for today?

One thing that interests me is whether these three men would prefer, in truth, to get out early & rest / prepare for the FO.  I'm not making a statement, just asking a question.

alex, i din't wish injuries to him, so relax.......medwatt can have all the dreams of his/her hero lifting 17th, 18th and 19th and keep the dreams to himself/herself, it doesn't bother me.......

i just wrote from my observation about djokovic's ugly movement on clay.......he has mastered the movement on hardcourts to an extent of sacrificing some of his movement on clay.......you know it's not easy to stop and turn on clay if you have this habit of slidng on hard surfaces.......involuntarily you look for traction but it's not there.......that's why he seems to be very uncomfortable when stretched or forced to change direction.......

that's all i meant with my post above......
Marian Vajda to Novak Djokovic, "I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man KEPT COMING AFTER YOU! Now we don't need no man like that in our lives."

i demand french open to be renamed RAFAEL GARROS

it looks like you really din't see the 2011 indoor season or even any of the indoor events after 2005.......gone are the days when indoors used to be fast.......these days they are the slowest courts out there.......even rome, madrid, barcelona, estoril play faster than most indoor events.......

london world toast finals is just ridiculously slow........absolute slow ass court with no pace off the ground.......

So what you're saying is Federer is even greater for winning on courts that don't reward his shotmaking... Wow Shankar I'm impressed!

i won't say he is an out and out slow courts player but slow courts don't hurt him one bit.......on slow courts, he has time to picks his spots and shoot all day.......that's the reason why he could beat nadal only in hamburg(which is the slowest clay court by some distance) but on no other clay court.......madrid 2009 was a no contest because of that historic semifinal as you know.......

somebody on tenniswarehouse came up with stats of the last 7 years about who won the most on slow courts.......fed is first, djokovic is second and nadal is a close third......djokovic will be the first if you consider plexicushion a slow court......

i lost that post, shall post it when i find it again......
