When will French Open authority get roof seriously?
I know they are talking new tennis centre, but there is no news about this project.

simply the greatest ever on clay........those first two sets yesterday were too good for novak.......this would have been a straight sets win had he not choked combined with the wet and muddy spin negating damp conditions yesterday late in the third set.......

all the pressure was on nadal going into this final........this was his ground.......he was very tentative through out and needed to protect his title at any cost.......french open was his last remaining hope and he somehow hung onto it.......quite comfortably in the end.......

now that he got over the line in such an intense final, watch him fully open his shoulders and swing for the fences in wimbledon.......he will be fearless and hard to stop now.......he is not expected to win at wimbledon, that is just added freedom.......

the first few games today, you saw a different nadal to late last evening when he stopped thinking and was not in the moment.......

you could see straightaway today rafa started using the slice and djokovic got cautious every time rafa did that.......novak has problems handling that slice and rafa brought it into the game just in time.......this is why he is great.......

and then rafa just unloaded off his forehand and muscled his way through the rest of the 4th set.......the slice was so missing even in the first two sets yesterday.......

i am not sure how sportsmanlike is double faulting on the match point.......fred stolle straightaway criticized him but woodforde was quick to divert the attention in the commentary.......

novak could easily have rolled in a kicker out wide but went for a risky down the 'T' swing serve.......he probably din't want rafa to 'win' it.......

Phew what a relief. It was absolutely vital that he wins this match against Nole. Yay  :))

Nice to see Nadal and his family celebrating. Tears of joy. Nadal really deserved it.
Nice to see the emotions.

Novak very disappointed understandably, but he will be ready for Wimbledon I'm sure.

I wonder how this Grand Slam thing played a role in Novak's head... He clearly was very nervous, and yet I don't have the feeling Nadal was really dominating him, despite playing great once again during the first games. It will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming tournaments.
I was supporting Djokovic, but in a way it's "good" that Nadal won. It shows there is still a specificity about clay, and you must not play exactly like anywhere else. But honestly, if there is another match Dokovic/Nadal on clay, I wouldn't bet all my money on Nadal...as good as he is, there have been a lot of sequences when Djokovic was clearly dominating, and a lot of his errors looked more due to his own mental state than due to Nadal's shots.

I thought the difference today was that Nole took the court believing yesterday was my day (and it very well may have been) but Rafa took the court believing everyday is my day.

As for the specificity of courts, I wonder what everyone would say if Rafa winds up with 17 total slam titles, 12 of which being RG. I'll bet the discussion quickly shifts from hard numbers to style points

When he wins 17 grand slam...

Nice going for Nadal. Missed the first part yesterday but caught the rest this morning before work!!!  :king:

Too bad for Djokovic, he did his best and played some good games in there.

Nadal made some fantastic gets, Nole too.

Those two are really monsters on the court, I couldn't imagine anyone else beating them as they are so good.

I didn't see the end of the match. I was sleeping. Darn so pissed right now. Congrats to Rafa and his fans.

I didn't see the end either....but like Alex.... I, too, want to congratulate Rafa and his fans.  Also...congrats to Alex and Novak's fans for a job well done as well.

I just hoped for the match to be finished on Sunday. Nole's first RG final, I'll go with that, not a problem although, as a Nole fan I'm sad. . but I'm still so frustrated  that I wasn't able to see the end of the match. now I don't want to even see the highlights when I know the result. I totally lost my sleep routine because of RG this year  :). STUPID FRENCH, get a freaking roof for God's sake (sorry for calling French stupid) but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Congratulations, Rafa fans! The Mallorcan is the Greatest to ever grace a clay court! Once more, Rafael is the benchmark for performance on the dirt. Operation Desert Storm is the most regular phenomenon in modern tennis, and the result is the same every time - leaving mass destruction in its wake..   :)>>>>

Personally I don't consider 'I run all day and thump the ball' very stylish.
All the more power to him, I suppose.  He did what was necessary to lift the cup.  Well done.

I guess all of you heard, Nadal's watch got stolen.... It would be really hard to speculate who did it judging by the photo... I mean they are all over him. But definitely the theft was very well orchestrated and precision-executed by a professional; whoever the person was, is just as professional in theft as Nadal is with tennis. I would even go further and say, quite possibly the crime was done by more than one person... or maybe even all the people on the photo were involved in taking Nadal's attention away. And those people involved will no doubt later get a percentage of the cash, when the watch gets sold on the black market.... That is one clever theft!
