not a surprise at all Maria completing the career slam, told Chris it was just a matter of time.
don't like to watch a sreaming player but when you are watching such a fighter, doesn't matter much if she screams or roars, take Seles for example. nobody is perfect.
the event has been a complete fiasco for all the top seeds players, don't going to elaborate and mention names but a lot of underachieving players.
it was totally deserved that the two best clay courterts of the season were in the final. Errani has won 3 clay titles (Acapulco, Barcelona and Budapest). Too bad the olympic final is on grass, with Errani wins this year in Acapulco, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros. they would be the favorites if the olympics were played on clay. Again Excellent season for Sara.
Maria deserved the title, and no asterisk title because others didn't played well.
Maria has won the triple crown on clay this year: Stuttgart, Rome and Roland Garros
Remarkable steady comeback, 4 years ago she was done with the shoulder injury.
Now, I remember the words of Chris about Maria and RG and Masha saying she was not going to play until age 30 and an early retirement, at age 27. She is a billionaire, she has won the career slam and she will go to the olynpics in the same situation as Serena, with olnly the olympic gold in singles left in her career.
I have always admire 2 things about Maria, she smiles little when she wins and she smiles big at the net when she loses and the other thing is her wonderful apppetite for the game, what a great competitor, I am now wondering if she wins gold for how long she will be around because the wta needs her more than ever.
Also this title is special because with the russian golden generation in the farewell tour, Masha is the flagbearear, Dementieva is badly missed while Petrova and Kuzzy sadly are in the last lap and Zvonareva in a russian personal turmoil and sadly it seems there is no money to bring young stars from Russia, in fact the moeney is in Kazakhstan.
Again, well done Maria, congratulations on completing the career golden slam and good luck at the olympics.
the cow on ice has won the french. bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope she'llbe around for a very long time, such a fighter with a great appetite for the game is badly needed on the wta right now.
